Crossed my fingers today and went for a muffler delete even though I'm on a lease. Car burbles and crackles like crazy when in sport mode. I'll be sure to take a video of it and post it. However, if posting a video is difficult I can dm u a vid on Instagram. My Instagram is @hamzazam1r. I went with a Y pipe and removed the muffler but kept the tips of my exhaust. Drone is not that big of an issue. If anyone has any questions feel free to hmu!

In these images you can see the setup. The exhaust shop welded together a Y-pipe that takes place of the muffler. Thing works well. Only problem is that you can see the mid pipe connecting to the Y under the car because the muffler isn't there anymore to hide that part of the exhaust. Not a huge deal, but noticeable.

Any audio clips? And if you don’t mind sharing, how much did they charge to remove the muffler? You can DM me if you don’t want to share here. I understand if you don’t want to share at all either.

I tried uploading vids but the app won't let me upload clips onto here. Lmk if u have IG or something so I can DM u the clips. As per price, the exhaust shop I went to first quoted me at 250 to make a Y pipe and install it. I didn't get it done for 250 as I know the owner but I know they charge 250 to make a y pipe like that install it. I definitely recommend getting a muffler delete over an exhaust though. Gives me the perfect amount of sound and burbles.

250 isn’t bad at all. I’m curious about how much drone there is when you do hard pulls.

I’ve been in cars where there was some drone (for eg one of the first Audi S4s I ever test drove had bad drone) and it totally put me off that car.

You'll be surprised but I agree w g20beam when he said it doesn't drone much. At first when I got the delete done, on my way home, I felt the drone but since then it's been minimal unless you're driving aggressively in manual mode w sport. In comfort daily driving, drone isn't noticeable.

Ah gotcha. If it sounds good, I might go that way too!

My opinion regarding the drone was terrible, I couldn't stand it at all, kids and wife were so anti as well. It just didn't sound -nice-, just a bass that was killing any other exhaust sound even the asd lol..

My experience was even in comfort mode or whatever mode, at between 2500-3500rpm it was highly noticeable then less under or above.

Well, when u push it in comfort you can slightly hear it but when I'm driving regularly w the music on in the city, I can't even tell my car has a muffler delete on it on comfort. However it is loud asf in comfort on cold starts.

I was just thinking about this today but I don't know how possible it is to weld my muffler back on when I return my car after the lease is up. I'm gonna attach some pictures of my car. Let me know if it'll be possible to reweld my muffler back on once my lease is over or should I just plan on getting a whole new OEM exhaust system or the M performance? (I attached a pic of the OEM exhaust w muffler and my current setup.)

I know nothing about welding. But why wouldn’t it be possible to go about it in the reverse of what was done for the delete? As long as nothing excess of the stock was cut off, shouldn’t it be possible to just weld it back in again?

Wym nothing excess of stock was cut? I was just worried about whether they can cut the areas that have been welded already and reweld them again to the muffler. Again, I feel like I'm just getting too paranoid because I still have 2 years.

I meant. If they haven’t cut and thrown away any excess piping from the stock, they should be able to re-weld it. I have had something similar done in a car a long long time ago and they didn’t have any issues.
And yea. You don’t need to buy a new exhaust at all. People have returned cars with muffler deletes without any problems during lease return. They only look for scratches and stuff and that there is no CEL on the dash board and that all services are done. That’s it.

I know this sounds ghetto but it works - a little flat black high temp BBQ paint (you can use a little foam roller to apply) will take care of that

Those welds and that step down before the Y... Yikes. Good news, yes you can have someone put the muffler back on, just please not the same shop that removed it. Also, why did you keep the exhaust flap? It isnt really doing anything without a muffler

Yah, really not a fan of the welding job by the Y pipe but whatever, can't really even see it. Do you think it really affects the exhaust performance in anyway?

Regarding the exhaust flap, i did the think where you pull the wire and put electrical tape on it so it doesn't function anymore. Therefore, the exhaust flap is always just open now.

If the weld is done properly, there won’t be any performance issues or the likes. It just looks bad in your case. But since it’s under the car, who cares

I've been receiving a lot of DMs recently regarding the muffler delete and the process. I've actually uploaded a short clip of my exhaust with the muffler delete on YouTube if anyone wants to take a look. I know its not a great vid as of rn. I'll upload a much better video of all the clips I have and what type of setup I have later on this week.

Hmu if anyone has questions

After listening to the video I posted before, I realized the audios distorted and sounds wack and does not sound like my car in person. Last night I got a clip of my car after going on a drive and I was surprised with the literal gunshots it was producing while Revving. Here's a short clip:
