The 2020 M340i xDrive Starts at $56,995 in the US
Featured on BIMMERPOST.com See the official Pricing Guide and Ordering Guide @ https://g20.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1583672 For "starting MSRP $56,995" listed at the top, we basically get Sensatec seats, 8.8" iDrive screen with no navigation, comfort access, base audio, the M-Sport goodies, and the garage door opener. Everything else appears optional. See attached. This is from the LA Auto Show. Last edited by praxis218; 12-03-2018 at 01:46 PM.. |

I don't need nor want the lux accessories like NAV, or digital dash, or even the "driver aids". My needs are simple, all of the "sport" items that make for the best driving capability and a good sounding audio system. I'll bet BMW does the stupid again, by forcing buyers to get some expensive "premium pkg" in order to get a $900 audio upgrade, making the $900 audio upgrade cost $4000 plus. Well, as much as I like what I see about the new M340i, BMW has worked their magic by which to lose my future customership. Hmm....what is the Genesis website again, with the G70, S. Korea may get a new immigrant to their car brand. Last edited by RPM90; 12-04-2018 at 04:38 PM.. |

Wow what a joke, they just shot themselves in the foot. Whats stopping somebody from buying an M3 at that price point, especially with some of the additional features you'd want added? There goes that plan for me. This is really stupid I'm actually pissed.

This is a big chunk of change, but not surprising--a base 2019 X3 M40i lists for $55,645 delivered--and that's with 355 hp.

Also, the G20 has no manual option at all. Something is better than nothing. If I don't go the M3 route, I'll probably just get a Civic Type R. The G70 2.0T is too slow compared to other 250hp entry luxury sedans. |

Definitely wish it was cheaper. I was hoping the m340 would represent a relative "bargain" in the line up but unfortunately the pricing doesn't seem wildly out of line.
G20 M340 is basically f30 340 + Msport + track handling + MPPSK + LSD (plus the diff is better than the aftersales version and xdrive actually gets the msport suspension) Loaded up looking at 65, maybe 70 with traffic jam/every tech package.... like the current model a loaded up version will probably run right up to the barebones M3 starting price The pain is probably going to be felt most when barebones 340 owners go to replace but if you were optioning up your 340 it shouldn't be wildly off expectations considering the added M performance content as standard |

More expensive than base X3 M40i? They better have some amazing lease programs or people will be going to Audi.

Honestly I dont care. If it were available with 6MT I'd take it with Lexus lights and disgusting grill and vinyl seats.
Without 6MT its going to be hard to choose between this and other makes |

x3 has a lower tune on its engine and doesn't have the diff which is an option. pricing seems about right. no doubt the 2020 x3 gets a slight markup too

Hey it is a BMW, they are not supposed to be cheap cars, they are aspirational cars. If you have to ask...

This is the stupidest move from a business standpoint. The M340 is essentially a poorer mans M3, but its goal is to remain on par with competitive 6 cylinder sedans and the top of the 3 series line. If your telling me I'm getting a naked 6 cylinder for more then 55K, then I'm sorry, but this is a ripoff.
An M3 starts at 66K, so by the time you deck out an M340 will all package options, it will, essentially, cost the same as an M3 which has a higher output anyway. The 10K price buffer is not really that competitive. This does not make any sense there is no incentive at that point to buy an M340. This is beyond frustrating. Lets not even begin to describe the lack of competitive pricing as compared to an S4.... Last edited by ThatKrazyPolak; 12-04-2018 at 09:10 AM.. |

The F80 M3 is out of production now and while there are some left on lots, those will soon be gone. When the next generation G80 model arrives, the starting price will move up near (but probably still below) $70k to maintain the gap between the top trim 3 Series. But your point about the S4 is of importance since that vehicle starts at $51,195 with destination charge. I am not sure how standard features might compare to the M340i, but irrespective of that, a >$5000 gap in starting price sure doesn't seem to put BMW in a favorable position. Sure, the S4 has 30hp less at this point, and there is always the debate about Audi driving dynamics. I'm sure there are other factors that those who are actually in the market might be weighing as well, but a >10% higher price for the BMW is still a bit of an ask. Perhaps the SQ5 is priced at similar discount compared to the X3 M40i too, I'll have to look at that and other data points to reach a more fully formed opinion of the situation. |

Listen, I understand a driving purist getting a naked M3 and using his phone as a nav because they want that RWD driving experience, but who is going to go that route with an M340? If there's someone thats going to fork up money for a 6 cylinder, 350+HP sports sedan, they obviously have the money and will go with a fully loaded M3. The M340 really isn't that special, so why the hell isolate a potential buyer base and make it seem like its so special? Last edited by ThatKrazyPolak; 12-04-2018 at 09:48 AM.. |
