It's definitely not the real production kidney's in terms of the actual design of the slats, but it does provide further evidence [for the hold-outs] that the tall/vertical grilles are here.
They are spaced so far apart, I am
Sure it will change.
Here we go with 100 pages of complaining. Lol

I don’t understand this. Why does the M3 look like the 4 series (old generation included)?
I want the M3. The three in M speck. The three. THE THREE. WHY DOES IT LOOK LIKE THE FOUR?

Yeah, you can see that some of the slats aren't even parallel with others. Probably put together with strips of plastic and Gorilla Glue.

Exactly, for modern BMW's 2 is the new 3, 3 is the new 5, and 5 is the new 7
And the 7 is the new...9?
6 is afraid of 7, cuz 7 8 9. 😁

Understated is NOT the direction BMW is going. Trying to compete with Toyota on grille size, I guess.
IMHO, Prototype real one will not even be close . It will slightly bigger than current M340i , along with more aggressive body parts , +/- 500 HP , bigger tires . Let us all wait and see

Lol! Still won't believe it eh?!? If there's ever been a worthy psychological case study it would be this.

The 4 is really just a 3 rebadged; don't you remember all of the controversy when it was revealed that BMW would be changing the name of the 3 coupe to the 4 coupe?!? Even when both the coupe and sedan were 3's, the ///M STILL borrowed the front end of the coupe (...E9X). You shouldn't be so surprised as it has been this way for over a decade.

My favorite part of the G80 has got to be those CF seats. I'd take a pair in black alcantara.

But bmw tried to differentiate the two models and did so even more now with the new 3 and 4. So why make the M3 look like the 4? It is also weird seeing the 4’s face on the narrower 3 series. If you want, make an M variant of the 4 GT. Seriously I hate bmw. If Porsche would make a 4 series competitor I’d just on that @@@@ so fast!

FWIW, this 4 front fascia won't be on the narrower 3 Series body. It will be on the wider ///M3......nullifying your argument.

I don't think it's that. I think they are testing air flow and cooling using vertical slats similar to what the ///M grille may be modeled after. They have better things to do than play games. Wouldn't you think?!

It’s still a taller and narrower car than the equivalent 4 model. It’s also weird seeing the face of a car on another. Should the M5 have the face of the 6 series for example?

I noticed the notches in the headlights gone to from the regular 3.
