It's because it's pre-production and they probably took it straight from a M340. I'd assume it'll be fixed once the production comes around.

As others have echoed the steering wheel is lackluster and the center console is too busy with buttons but that's the least of our worries compared to the outside!

How much you want to bet you can't go those amazing seats with the MT?

I'll take that bet. If it's available in the U.S., it'll be available with either model.

Im here to defend the new M steering wheel. Looks very similar to the ones in all the M packs and M Performance models.

It feels WAY WAY better than the one in my M2. Perfect thiccness, and overall diameter. I would definitely take the new gen wheel. .02

Which new steering wheel are you defending? R u telling us uve test driven the final production G80 or u just referring to the current line of M steering wheels? Suspicions have it that the G80/82 steering wheel may be diff than what we're currently seeing ... possibly, and hopefully, cause they stink IMO.

Agreed. It's been the same for years. Why not make it a little more special as a treat to the enthusiasts. Especially considering it may possibly be the last M3 available with a stick.

I don't mind the thickness, more so the appearance/aesthetic for me. I don't like the airbag shape on the wheel. The leather on it is nice though. It just looks off to me.

I also think it's a bit too busy as far as buttons are concerned. It's hard to discern them IMO and there's just too many now. That's more of a problem of our time than anything else.

Nope I have not held the new G80 wheel. But from what I have seen, looks like 90% the M-Sport wheel. Slightly more chunky.

That has absolutely nothing to do with my gripe. It's an old shift knob plain and simple and pretty sure most "enthusiasts" wouldn't mind a different maybe even more sportier shift knob. What the hell does LED and carbon fiber being everywhere having anything to do with what I said?

Am I the only one who thinks that the center console, surrounding the iDrive controller looks overly busy in the modern BMWs?

I liked the E9x LCI update to the iDrive and limited number of surrounding buttons. Very simple and stylish.

Now it just looks like a soundboard or laptop computer keyboard. Very unappealing IMO. Kind of reminds me of the dashboard of the old AMGs with the useless full telephone keys.
Looks more "Kiaesque"

Right, a weird rumor, nothing more. BMW doesn't want to alienate customers and is in the business of making money, there's no way that rumor is coming to fruition.

So glad I pulled the trigger on a 18 f80 zcp. Nothing about this new one other than the monster S58 appeals to me.

I agree with this, it feels very nice. However, I also hate the way it looks. It's my least favorite part of my M5 interior (visually).

And I bet the g80 gets the same one.

The ZHP shift knob is a BMW enthusiast's favorite. BMW was using the long version of this shift knob since as far back as I can remember and just changed out to this one this past generation. The ZHP knob is just a bit shorter, weighted, and has slightly cleaner stitches. It's almost a trademark of manual transmission BMWs at this point. Why mess with something so classic? If you want something flashy, just look up the M Performance catalog or buy an aftermarket shift knob. With the slow death of manuals, it's nice to have that one iconic piece in a BMW stay relatively constant.

I don't really care what the shift knob looks like (the old one is fine and inoffensive) I'm just glad manual is still being offered.

If any minor complaint it would be that the leather quality of the sock could be a few grades higher when matched with the merino full leather.

Don't know what you are talking about. I have driven the Quadrifoglio twice and my F80 Comp is better planted than the Alfa. Its also about 1 - 1,5 sec faster on a 1.30 track. I would never change my car into the Quadrifoglio even if it would have same quality. And quality wise you can't even compare these 2 cars.
