Thé ZF8 hasn't had this set up to my knowledge.

Also, the knobs tend to be shared across the line and this is not the same as the new M5, 8 series upgraded crystal or new 6 GT.

Looks like a fake that has mixed up Audi and old BMW for a prediction
It looks very similar to the F90 M5 shifter as well as the new M850i shifter. It is just wrapped in leather. It doesn't look like the SMG/DCT shifter at all.

Hopefully they make one that looks like this:
Hopefully they will bring the Jesko gearbox to bmw

I had manual and E brake on my E89 Z4,it works

Nothing to worry about unless you are looking for handbrake turn

Start button on the center console and electronic parking brake...
What has happened to the "men" that used to drive BMW's. I'm looking at a pure Audi center console.

A lot of people fearing the changes i see, Imagine when the first M3 Phev or full EVM3 comes gosh that will be the talk of months on how BMW lost it's way "Insert the same things over and over again here"

Gonna be cool owning an EVM3 i even like the name already ! :-)

We just need the third party market to come in and start telling us how to be able to tune electric cars on our own.

The only thing i am skeptic about is the part when the cars gets to that point that autonomous driving will be the thing, then i think car's won't be the same ever again.

In Sweden they are already in the talks of creating so called "car fleets" if you wan't to be driven to work you just summon a car to you and it drives ya to work. Then when leaving work you summon a car and it takes you home.

That part i am not so sure about.

The thing that bothers me most about EVs is that they have no sound. They're just so bloody boring to drive, no matter how quick they get from point A to point B from a standstill.
The engine and exhaust sound are part of what makes driving cars exciting (to me at least), so removing that will remove a large part of why I am interested in sporty cars.

I was actually referencing the shift pattern not the fear selector it self.

Unless I'm wrong the ZF8s are all PRND and move left for sport mode and shift for manual.

This has the DCT/SMG R is left N is center and manual mode is right and a right tap again gives you drive.

No park? Maybe that's why there's an electric brake? Unless someone can confirm the new M5 is like this I'm skeptical they would reprogram the whole thing to go back to an old style when the appeal of the ZF8 is its cheap sturdy and they can put it in everything easily.

If you want to have fun in driving you need to buy older cars. New cars are getting more and more boring.

Handbrake lever is gone. 6 speed manual might be gone. They are getting pig heavy.

I am more and more thinking of buying older M3 and use that as a fun car for the weekend and trackdays. And buy a nice daily car next to it.

Not feeling that shifter area at all...and yes, as others have said, it looks like an older Audi.

I don't know. In my experience, BMW handbrakes never grab that well. There is always a little creep forward or back. The e-brake is a lot more reliable.

But I agree in regards to the esthetics.

Actually, I was not aware of any of that. That is great technical knowledge, however.

But quite honestly I am not sure that I should care about it or that it matters to me.

Eh.. so it looks like any other modern-day luxury car interior I don't hate it... My 981 Cayman was 6mt with an electronic handbrake in the driver's footwell! I guess that's not a real car since it didn't have a proper manual handbrake..... To me, the e-handbrake is whatever. I only use it to park and it's fine; hill hold works well enough (had it in my Cayman and have it in my M2).

The interior is, so far, unoffensive. I'm still curious how the front end is going to look, considering Scott aluded to the fact that the M3 will continue to share the M4's front end, and the word is the 4 series' tall, vertical grills may be controversial.

Fucking wack.

As for auto hold, not sure how the new M-ZF8 is but all DCT's automatically hold your car if you press the brake hard enough and let go.

6MT is gonna get an electronic park brake as well.

Unless BMW redesigned the electric park brake around the rear axle, you can say goodbye to those pretty sealed rear calipers.
I do not know what difference you mean, maybe could you compare the two different brake calipers with photos?
