BMW Laser headlights

Just watched this local review on the different light technologies available. The BMW laser headlights performed somewhat disappointingly.

I have them on my car, but due to our lockdown restrictions I haven't had a chance to try the laser function in a rural setting. Do any of you have any thoughts?

Also have the laser light but 99.9% of my driving over the last 1.5yrs of ownership has been urban based so can't really comment on the high beam/laser.

However, the low beam brightness and spread is the best I've had in recent cars (comparing to Volvo XC90 with LED, VW Passat with LED, and previous Volvo S60 and VW Touareg with bi-xenon).

I'm in NZ and have laser lights on my M340i.
They are truly excellent, but of course only really useful when you are driving in rural areas at 100km/hr. The entire head light system is amazing..the adaptive function, the high beam assist and the laser lights. I think they work in conjunction the GPS as they anticipate bends and seem to change the light spread according to the road conditions and speed.
But if you are seldom driving at night at highway speeds probably not worth the money. In NZ, laser lights are packaged with the sunroof as an option.

This is from a recent trip I had:

I also wrote quite extensively about it here: https://g20.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1745449

The laser lights activate at about 60km/h.

In my experience, I'd say you should take these car reviewers' opinion with a grain of salt really.

I'd have to agree that the G20 LED Headlight in urban driving is probably one of the best I've driven. Although, as much as I hate to say it, the best ever lights were the Matrix LED headlights on my Range Rover Velar and that's saying something because I hated that vehicle with a passion

Laser? Yeeeeeessssssss!

I fell in love with BMW Adaptive lights on the wife's 640d GC, so I wasn't expecting much more with the M340i Laser ... well I was wrong: they have all the cool self adjusting features PLUS more distance. I do live semi rural, so just leave the lights on Auto & let the car do the rest. I travel the Hume Melbourne to Albury (or at least used to pre lockdown) and did a trip to Brisbane (pre lockdown) and the only issue I had was that I got flashed twice, same circumstance: coming over a hill rise & the car couldn't see the on coming truck as its lights were below the crest

So 99.99% is fine by me

Glad to hear all have been impressed by the laser headlights. Looking forward to using them in "anger" when the Melbourne lockdown is over!

After more than a year's ownership I have finally used the adaptive laserlights!

They were great along the Great Ocean Road. The adaptive function sensing oncoming & following traffic is great as is the turning function as you go around bends.

It was as almost as easy as driving during the day.
