How long until...

The 3 series gets the pig snoot grill? M3, M4, 4 series has it and now the 4 grand coupe has it. Any guesses?

The 3-series needs broad global appeal, from a 318d company car to the M340i, including Touring models. I doubt that BMW will evolve its bread and butter model any faster than it has for the past 40 years. That would push a lot of loyal customers away, myself included.

Agreed. If anything it'll get slightly bigger in its current form. Kind of similar to how the 5 series grill gets bigger.

The word has been BMW wants the 4er to be differentiated from the 3er and that it will not get the “pig snout”.

Multiple people from the design team (incl Dukec himself) have publicly confirmed the 3 will not get the big grille. Also, this is like the 100th thread about this and I'm getting sick of seeing this attention seeking posts.

Not an immediate concern for me, but welcome news nonetheless. Thank you for posting. They should just make big grill versions for the Chinese market in the factories there... It's gone too far now with the new 4 and M3.

Loll. I was just talking with a Taiwanese buddy at work who said "BMW is making these ridiculous grilles to appease to my people."

Funny thing is Asia gets the reputation that it looked big grilles, but they actually are biggest consumers of cars with small or no grilles, like Porsches, Lambos, Ferrari, Tesla's, and local car manufactured in China have small grilles. Unless BMW had decreasing sales and Audi and MB had increasing sales in Asia than I don't see why they feel the need for large grilles unless it is performance dictated(cooling).

They do like big grills as well. Big grills and standing out in general are desirable for luxury cars there. Porsches and exotics stand out plenty to begin with. China is just a huge market; they are the biggest consumers of many things, including all types of cars.

Has little to no benefit in cooling.
