Thank you! I also ended up getting one of those dog hammocks off Amazon. It's a little floppy ($30) but it will work until I find a better one. Thank you jstein55 for the suggestion. The 16 year old pup is very happy now.

Congratulations? So does the M340 you got have remote start? It is a stand alone option that needs to be checked as it looks like you picked something from the inventory?

I really love the M340 and actually enjoy driving it much more than my 911TT.

That's the biggest compliment ever conveyed towards this car. How refreshing to hear especially with the barrage of negativity it gets sometimes.

Gorgeous combination! I also see you are from Georgia. Their roads are 100% better than Chicago! I went a different route and picked up a Trackhawk for the SUV

I had to sacrifice German workmanship for melt your face acceleration off every light, plus remote start

It does have it. Being from Chicago, 99% of the cars on the lots are X-drive + remote start option. I would think the dealers would have a hard time selling cars if some dealers offered remote start while their competitors didn't. We leased a Jeep Renegade for the daughter. THAT even has remote start and heated steering wheel. Jeeps most basic vehicle with $27K MSRP that you could walk out purchasing for $21K.

I can't comment on handling that much since I don't have a 911. I did purchase some Michelin Pilot Sport 4s over the weekend and will get them mounted up and see how they do. The All Season RFT are a little hard and I think holding this car back a little. I haven't pushed it a whole lot yet. I did do a little 0-60 Saturday and even with the tire squeal from the run flats, it managed to pull a 3.8 0-60 which I thought was pretty decent. In comparison my X3M did 3.4-3.5 consistently with the sticky tires.

Nice Trackhawk. I would love to get one of those or an X5M but I need a 3rd row seat so I got the Durango SRT which we love but my lease is up next April and we are trying to find a replacement. We test drove the X7M50i but the cargo room is a little smaller than the Durango so we may look at the Durango Hellcat.

We have a Durango RT. It's a great 3 row SUV. Sporty, quick, lots of room inside for 3 rows. The RT gets reasonable gas mileage too. We looked at the SRT when they came out but the dealers were just not moving on price. To get a similarly equipped SRT, it would had been almost 72K which was hard to justify for a mom-mobile when the RT ended up costing around 45K. Durango Hellcat would be awesome. However, my fuel bill would be out of control. The wife has already put 50K miles on the Durango in just over 2 years. The saving grace is we can put regular in the RT.

Ended up with a Durango RT as well, but I got mine OTD for ~$42k . Blacktop, tow, sunroof, and I forget what else was optioned but it was light on options while still having everything I need / want for the moment. Hoping to give it to my nephew in another few years and snag a Bronco next.

I had a 330i as a loaner when getting service done and really liked the car. Little underpowered on the highway, but driving around town was a pleasure.

Yesterday I decided to test a M340 and really enjoyed the power delivery and driving dynamics compared to the x3m. The roads here are terrible and the X3M just amplifies everything to the point where it's not enjoyable. The power deliver on the M340 was instant off idle. Its rated quite a bit less, but without the laggy feeling the X3 has, it felt better on the test drive. The power comes on so hard with the X3 it's hard to modulate acceleration off the line.

Things I like:
  • Decent MPG for the power (16-17, my Trackhawk is 12-13)
  • Topend power is awesome
  • Brakes
  • Heads up display & 360 camera

Things I don't like
  • No android auto
  • No remote start
  • Rough ride. Really unpleasant on bad roads.
  • It's a dog from a launch unless you use launch control. Really laggy
  • No remote start
  • Randomly changes radio station on me
  • Handling is weird. Too twitchy
  • Fuel tank is too small for a car that gets 16mpg. Like 225 mile range.
  • Apple carplay works 50% of the time

I like the power of the X3M, but I am sure a tune on the M340 should get pretty close to the same performance of a stock X3M. The driveability around town is more important to me than an extra 100hp on the top end. Most playing around is over by 60-80, well before the X3M really starts to shine.

Based on my test driving I think the M340 should fix the stuff I really dislike about the X3M. I will miss the suv aspect having a dog, but I have other suvs and can rig something up for her in the backseat.

Has anyone compared these 2 cars back to back? Anyone gone from one to the other?
Have you tried driving the x3 M40i with jb4 ? Maybe wait for the refresh and get that

The X3 M40i has a very comfortable ride which I liked a lot better than the M340i (without adaptive suspension). I extensively test drove the M340i and would never consider it without the adaptive suspension. It's just too stiff. There's no guarantee the X3 refresh will have more ID7 features and I still think part of that is due to BMW not wanting the X3 to steal too much of the X5 sales.

I think the M340i with fixed suspension is just fine. Coming from the X3M it's night and day different. It's more than acceptable on our shitty roads. I would had liked the adaptive suspension, but I was trying to be reasonable since I had to eat so much to get out of the X3M. Plus, it's one less thing to worry about.

I've also got the fixed suspension and it's quite comfy for me. Test drove both and found they are both excellent.
