Driver Attention Camera seems to do nothing?
It seems to me that the Driver Attention Camera doesn't do anything.
The salesman told me that it would allow me to keep my hands off the wheel for longer as the car knows when you're paying attention to the road, but I still have to touch the wheel every 5-10secs or CoPilot flashes yellow at me. Yes it is activated in Settings. Anybody else have experience with this? It might be a regulatory thing (NL is fairly anal about driver assist systems) but to me the Attention Camera is pointless...

Well no I didn't expect that but I did expect (and was told by the salesman) that it would increase the time before needing to touch the steering wheel. I've just read up on Traffic Jam Assistant (thanks CrownRoyal79) and I guess technically the salesman was right - but only at speeds less than 37mph/60kmh.

In Europe I don’t believe we get the “traffic jam Assist” which is extended autonomous driving so need to keep touching the wheel or it switches off the driver assist.
For us Europeans I believe The driver attention camera monitors the driver and if you are not paying attention e.g. sleeping/I’ll it will bring the car to a stop. From the manual

Also if you are in stop-start traffic with assisted drive on, when the car in front moves, if you are not looking forward, the car beeps and won't move until you pay attention.
I think in the US it also allows complete hands-free driving up to 40mph. Would be handy here in the UK for some of our A roads. |

The camera only scans your eyes when:
- You're stuck in a traffic jam - You're going below 40mph - The car prompts you to press the mode button to activate the traffic jam assistant

I use the Assisted Driving Plus nearly everyday on my commute to work/home. The Drivers Assistance Camera is definitely there and present...always keeping an eye on my eyes.

Ok great - I noticed the infrared LEDs on mine were active last night. I think the answer to my question is it works as designed for traffic jam assist, but my expectations were off. I thought it enabled full hands-off at highway speeds, but that's not what it's intended for.

My 2020 U.K. spec. M340i keeps reverting this Driver Attentiveness thing to “Standard” when starting the car after I’ve previously turned it off! Is this normal? Is there a way I can turn off this last nanny state system (I’ve turned off all the others)?
