I think that's due to the dealer having limited build slots...I know TRL (Berry Heathrow) said they don't have any till later in the year now.

Think I read somewhere (Funboy78?) that the diesel engine was being discontinued?

Yes I completely forgot! The final production month for the M340D will be June according to TRL.

Sytner Chigwell did a good deal when I got the car last year. I think I ended up with c. 14/15% 'discount' on the OTR price.

They were also able to secure a build slot with delivery within 2.5 months from the date of the order.

I had asked Tony Lewis for a quote and a few other dealers but none of them had delivery slots for the year. Sytner matched Tony's quote and threw in a bit more to sweeten the deal.

Might be worth checking with them if you're struggling with getting a slot.

I almost had one on order, (M340D Touring), car about to go to build, but not locked in. Asked for a few changes and salesman supposed to come back to me with price, never happened!!

Now in build and booked to someone else, seems some dealers aren't willing to discount what is about to become very rare.

The few (both plus packs, sun roof, towbar) on approved used seem to have gone up in price, actually to more than I hope to get a new one for!!

If interested, get on Carwow and then on the phone!

The saloon M340d only had 3 UK build slots left. One of these belonged to Halisham BMW but this is gone now I believe.

The touring M340d still has some build slots and it appears any dealer can still select these (I know this based on my order).

After June no more M340d - certainly end of production, not sure on deliveries.

THEN we start to hear about the 2nd refresh from July which appears to be internal cosmetic changes, not external visual ones. The iDrive will probably get 8.5 meaning slightly more powerful and have augmented nav with some slight differences in the look. Only the M3 will see performance changes, extra 40hp I think. This is only what I’ve read, not my info in any way. It was hard finding a dealer that knew about the diesel engines being discontinued, let alone any chance of them knowing about any refresh!!

I did think “should I cancel and wait, then order the refresh” but this would mean getting an M340i. Maybe it’s just me, but my head still rules mpg over petrol. Not sure if there’s a calculator somewhere to work what’s best based on fuel price vs mpg?

Either way, for now, what I’ve read suggests no major changes plus initial wait times plus maybe lower discounts on a refresh, means perhaps don’t cancel?

That's interesting, my local dealer claimed to have one on order for stock but didn't make any effort to source anything else, maybe because I asked about discounts!!

There is a Jan 24 one on Approved Used now but at a price higher than I am prepared to pay new,
I'll maybe ring around and have a go at the brokers.

Funboy78 how hard to you push for discount?

Dealers do have them on order for stock, so probably true. Whether they can change or amend spec is where the issue will be!

Carwow tells you which dealers will do discount, I just phoned the dealers that made me an offer. All capped out at 13.6% / 13.7%
Also it was clear some didn’t know about the diesel end of sale telling me it wasn’t true, then 10 minutes later telling me it was true

I did the same as you, looked at used but they are priced the same or more as what I’m getting new and mine will be fully loaded vs the ones on offer that are not.

Do a Carwow mate and see who comes back to you, that’s your starting point. You’ll have offers within an hour……

Just put in an order in for a G21 M340d, after 2 years of consideration! Thanks to Berry BMW, who offered a fair enough discount and who chased one of the few remaining build slots, and to Funboy78 without whom I may not have ordered (not sure if that's a thanks or not!)

Isn’t Drivethedeal a broker, bit like Carwow, however the price they give isn’t always what you’d get, it goes out for bidding?
What spec M3 you going for?

Yes they are a broker, i’ve used them a couple of times in the past and found the prices were spot on, I have also shown their price to a main dealer and got them to match it.

I managed to find a 5 month old touring with 1400 miles in BG, vis pack, park plus, tracker, heated steering wheel.
More or less how I would of built one, didn’t want the comfort access or the carbon seats, they look amazing but not great for a daily.

That’s how selling your car through them works rather than buying.

Placed an order for a G21 M340i with a local dealer matched the DTD discount plus a few freebies.
Build date is June so will be delivered sometime in July.

I got a quote from Drive the Deal in mid march for around 17% discount for a M340d saloon for end of June delivery but decided to buy a used approved low mileage car instead as I didn't want to wait.
