Hello, I'm new to this forum. It is super useful to see the quotes other people are getting.

Could anyone help me with this naive question: when someone says they get e.g. 10% off MSRP or $2,000 off MSRP, does this usually mean the OTD price or do I need to add tax to get the OTD?

The tax here in NJ is about 6.6% so it does make a difference whether a quote includes tax or not. Thanks!

You need to add tax as not every sales tax jurisdiction or tax law is the same. For example, here in NY, tax is determined by county and if you are leasing, you are only taxed on the total amount of payments.

When I reference 10% of MSRP, I’m referring to the sticker price, pre-tax. Since tax rates can differ so widely, I assume most people are referring to pre-tax.

That is correct and it also should not include any incentives. Those should be listed separately since eligibility varies.

Do I need to also add those misc fees to get the OTD though? Like I see some dealers are asking for a $800 doc fee; when someone says 10% off MSRP, does it also include this kind of fees?

No, it doesn't include anything other than the % discount off MSRP.

No, depends on location and the dealer, I think NY caps it at $75 or so. Down in Florida you may be around $1k. You are in NJ so probably a few hundred or so. When getting prices from various dealers have them include the fees, listed separately of course.
