M340 2024 vs wait for 2025
2024 - cheaper than 2025, can order now and get it sooner
2025 - B58TU2 update with slight HP loss. Some other additions? but have to wait until later in the year and MRSP will go up. Could the 2025 have better exhaust sound with the new engine update? |

If you are not going to modify your car, then I would suggest just buying now at the lower cost. If modifying, then I suppose there could be an argument made that the new B58TU2 will be more advantageous.

I don´t think it will get better in the future.
Look how many things BMW already stripped from the PreLCI to the LCi. And even between the first PreLCi to the last PreLCI... The B58TU2 is already known from the X7.

I'm not 100% sold on the TU2...yet. DI is catching up to PI. The DS25-350 and S58 injectors can natively be used in BM3 which will get you around 700whp on e50 which is outside of the realm of what the transmission can handle reliably anyway. You can go 900+HP on race gas once they release their fuel cam upgrade - worth it to me to stay DI-only, but I know folks like their PI, too.

Your biggest risk is that they discontinue an exterior paint or interior seating color. This happens rather frequently, in fact. So if you have your heart set completely on a given color combo that's available now and would be destroyed if you couldn't have it in '25 it's best to order it now as a '24.

If you are going to mod it, you might as well buy now, save yourself some money. We don't yet know about exhaust sound, but even if it decreases, same options for increasing noise (MPE or the myriad of after-market intake, downpipe and exhaust options) will still exist.
For keeping it stock though, I think the TU2 engine is going to give you a better driving experience. Yes, there are 7 less HP but it is countered with 14 more pound-feet of torque (US version). We all know the giddy-up comes mostly from torque. Also the mild hybrid is transmission driven rather than belt driven, with increased torque and HP (total of 386 hp and 398 lb-ft torque as reported in Bimmer Life - https://bimmerlife.com/2024/02/07/20...hybrid-system/ ). So more e-boost for when you floor it, plus it can actually move the car in stop and go traffic rather than firing up the engine each time you need to inch forward from stop. |

I was going to say wait for the MY25 and see if the M Sport seats are going to be an option in the US.It looks like they won’t because the LCI M440i US ordering guide was just posted and they aren’t available for the US.So i would be very surprised if the M340i gets them when the M440i isn’t.

Seems like G20s are constantly being downgraded. The G22 facelift cuts a whole lot of things and makes everything more plastic-y. The G20 has already suffered a bit in model year 2024 but I'd personally take the bigger discount now, before it gets any worse.
That's what I did with my G26 - they offered me a nice 12% off MSRP and I ordered immediately. The LCI later this year would be $3k more expensive, probably without a discount off MSRP, the lasers would be cut (they already are in the G20), some ambient lighting would be cut, some metal trims would be cut in favor of plastic ones and so on. The only thing I regret is not having iDrive 8.5 but it is what it is. |

Engine wise, probably no difference from a performance perspective. Maybe a few new interior options based on this. Up to you if that’s worth waiting for. |

I would just wait for the new model. It is coming soon anyway. worth the wait. But I don't think there will be significant changes in terms of look, performance, etc.
