M340d touring

Picked this up the other week and thought it was about time to share some pics! Got a few plans to make it my own…

Loving the look of the touring and the diesel grunt and can’t argue with the economy on its first long run 😊

First two mods are in! The galvanic controls which you can’t spec here in the UK and some Carbon rear seat backs, both finish it off nicely inside 👌

And any links for the galvanic controls in the UK?

The car looks great!

So your best best is to source the window switches from a G11 7 series as they had them standard and it’s a direct swap

And thank you!

A few more mods done, I fitted the strut braces from a 4 series which do make a difference to the way the front and feels, well documented mod on this forum too and I would recommend.

I also added the missing headlight covers as it annoyed me the front just looked unfinished when I was working doing the strut brace!

And then finally I got a metal key blade to replace the cheap cost cut plastic one you now get, the key now feels so much nicer and higher quality. Part no 512217409076 from BMW and comes pre cut to your car

So a couple of months have passed and been slowly making the M340d my own and improving where I can!

First up was completing the galvanic controls with the lock switch and blanking plate.

I then decided to break up the all black on the back and front. I purchased an M sport aluminium grill and used the surround with the M340 inserts, I think it improved the look as I do like the alpina'esque' chrome front end

I then got some pre LCI tips from Ebay which are aluminium rather than the standard gloss black, again I think it breaks it up nicely

I then wanted to have the individual look inside with the piped floor mats so I had a trimmer pipe my mats in cognac leather, I am really happy with how these came out!

Overall really happy with how the car is now looking! A few more things planned though...

I then proceeded to have the Motech stance kit fitted to the car.

To my surprise the ride actually improved although its arguably a bit too floaty now, however the car sits so well now with the spacers too!

How much was the key blade if you don't mind me asking.

Lovely car too.

After almost a year of hunting around I finally embarked on fitting the car with the trim I really wanted, Open pore wood.

In the UK this option got dropped with the LCI and is only available for Alpina models meaning an LCI set would never just come up for sale, instead I tried every single breakers yard to find a pre LCI set so I could order the dash piece new. It took a long time to workout the correct part number for the dash piece as there were no actual cars with it I could use but finally got it in from Germany and very pleased with the results!

Before I had the Alu Mesh which is a no cost option in the UK, it looked fine but it didn't contrast well with the chrome in my opinion

Pleasantly surprised its a solid piece rather than the thin veneer of Aluminium wrapped over plastic you can see on the old trim

Why BMW UK didn't offer this when its available in RHD is beyond me!
