Bear in mind, they are not attributing that information to any official BMW source. It is merely their (correct) conclusion based on known information.
The point is, for anyone who is still clinging to (false) hope that the M3 will not share the M4 grill, that statement should do nothing to sway those (desperate) beliefs. |

They absolutely drove the M3. I recall reading in one of the write-ups in the compilation thread (that people seem to be mostly ignoring for some reason) - I think it might have been Autoblog's article - that they were trying to figure out a way to peak under the camo to verify the big grill was there.

The roof of the M3... yeah, no, sorry, I prefer the classic double bubble over whatever the hell is happening now. This does not look sleek right now, I find.

These proper photos show what I think is one of the most important elements of the grill... the curved design. All of the renders and the awful shoot from the hip cell phone shots make the grills look upright and ridged. It's clear to me that the grills curve both towards and hood at the top and back towards the splitter at the bottom.
To those open minded about the design, In my opinion this element should bring the design together especially in 3 dimensions from a normal human vantage point. the haters, well I doubt there is any hope for them and they will keep posting dogs eye view from narrow angle lenses and puke emojis |

I just realized that the design of the front grill looks like a « M ».

Easter Eggs "Nice Try" and "Nope"
Early 2015 we discerned some design lines lying beneath the camouflage of the upcoming F87 M2 (see the dedicated thread here - "Visual analysis: BMW M2 getting several cues from the BMW Vision Concept GT6"). Taking a closer look at pictures of test mules gave away some clues.
BMW insider SCOTT26 commented back then: Quote:
OK, challenge accepted. Original picture: Let's have a look: This enhanced picture also shows the muffler: "Nice Try" (M logo location - trunk): "Nope" (near headlights - driver's side): Message for Mr. Markus Flasch: we salute you.

I know I'm grasping at straws here.
But what are the odds that the M3 has a smaller grille thats more in the general shape/size/direction of the 3 Series while the M4 has the bigger massive grille more in line with the 4 Series? I'm just really holding out hope that the M3 is ultimately different up front since we've still not seen the fronts of these cars unveiled. All the spy photos and the bumper pic where the olive green color is sticking out at on the prodcution line, it looks to me like an M4 not an M3. Thoughts? |

Finally we are getting proper cannon barrels standard, perfect diameter!
As per the grill...the new teaser seem to not have a top to bottom color coded grill separation on the yellow M4? Is it one large grille element? That I wouldn’t like. Obviously not a deal breaker taken the rest of awesomeness but I prefer well defined kidneys. |

The below photos of the G80 & G82 front 1/4 view are from BMW's most recent press release from yesterday. I've intentially posted the full image in all its high-res glory below so that one can clearly see the headlamps and the hood shut line being completely identical across the G80 & G82. Which again means, there is no chance the G80 will have a G20-esque grille. We are stuck in the same predicament as some early pre-modern astronomers where all the math and formulations told them the earth was round, but we as humans never got unequivocal proof until the age of exploration, or maybe even until the space race, centuries later.
