50x later and I will still say it - fugly as hell and I am lucky I bought my 2020 F82 last year. I honestly do not like the trend BMW is going in with these disproportionately large grilles.
If I'm spending a large amount of money on a car, it needs to both drive well and look reasonably good. A year later after countless renders, spy pictures, and seeing the base G22, I still haven't and won't. |

I was hoping the M3 might use the standard 3 series grilles which would make the front end bearable.
But similar to the terrible 4 series - honestly can't see me buying a G series M wagon..

We've been telling people for almost a year that the two cars would have the same front end design. Despite all of the evidence, people chose to ignore it. Hopefully the last of the hold-outs will finally accept it and we can finally focus on other aspects of the car. I'm eager to see it without the camouflage.

The front end still makes me giggle every time I see it. The designers were sketching the front end and the second before they officiate the front end grille..... the person holding the virtual pen sneezes.

I have loved this concept since we first saw them. The only downside, literally, is the repetitive jokes about people's F80s going up in value lol.
Some substantive differentiation between the M and the 3 series was truly needed after BMW diluted the brand with the M340i (in NYC it's quite common to see people removed the "40i" part of the badge...)

If that happened then there is no way I would get the C63. I'm dragging my feet because I have the F86....

New M looks really good from the side and back that's about it. I like the headlights but the grill just looks off!!!

Jason Cammisa and his sarcastic humor never fails to make me laugh it seems as if Kidney Cancer has infected the brand.

At least the tail lights look good.
And honestly, the grilles look 100x better on this car over the regular 4. |

Every car I bought so far had the „woow / I like it" effect the first time I saw it. I never bought a car that first had to grow on me...and don't think ever will do so...either it catches my interesst from the very first moment or I'm moving further...if a brand that I like has nothing to offer for me anymore, then that is bad luck, but for sure I won't make any compromise and still buy something where I'm not fully statisfied with it...there are a lot nice cars out there nowdays... |

The grill shape and size is annoying but so is how cluttered it is. Two large openings bisected in half with three-dimensional horizontal slats in each opening, a license plate that sits above the slats and over the bisected portion of grill, as well as two circular censors on the lower corners beside the plate and to top it off, a not so well hidden radar sensor which ruins any symmetry of the grills and slats. Too much going on here.

Both will look mean once you get used to it and throw some crappy vorsteiner aero on it! Lol. Give them a chance. I kinda think their “big” grille is better than Audi, Lexus, caddy, mustang, Camaro etc etc and everyone else doing “big” grilles. It’ll all be OK.

The M3/M4 have different grills from the 4 Series. The 4 Series pig snout is more square. The M3/M4 nostrils are more angular and overall narrower, and the proportions are better. Whereas I categorically hate the 4 Series pig face, the narrower M3/M4 pig face might be minimally acceptable to me if the rest of the car is awesome.
US plates are taller and narrower than Euro plates; not sure how that will change the look. It is more aggressive-looking, certainly. But damn. The previous gen F80 was so beautiful, I don't understand. EDIT: I showed the new M3/M4 design to my wife. She still doesn't like it. So that pretty much rules out me getting one. I couldn't take the verbal abuse it would bring me on a daily basis. |
