Wow.

So glad I stayed up for that. And so glad for Clemson, Dabo, and all the current and former players. They have been making progress year after year and it's hard to not like that story of progression.

Roll Tide! Great game...Wish we had won, but can't win them all...just seems that way sometimes! I am happy for Dabo...enjoy him while you can...you know when Saban retires, he will come home.

We lost because we didn't capitalize on the 2 turnovers...only 3 points.

Great game, Clemson earned that championship.

Bama has their haters and they will be loud now. But we all know Bama will be right back in that championship game next year.

Who the hell scheduled this game? On until almost 12:30 on east coast. I bet a lot of people missed the end. Late games are fine when everyone is still on holiday.

Bama had the game where they wanted it, with the lead and on defense. It's was a fantastic finish. Thought we we going to be stuck with a 21-14 type game.

See you next year.

Congrats to Clemson but Roll Tide.

Simple truth is we left our defense on the field WAY too long. We had too many 3 & outs and you simply can't do that when you don't have a very strong offense. Eventually Deshaun and the Clemson crew were going to find the match ups that worked best for them and we gave them all the time to do it. We asked a lot of Jalen and he gave us what he could. He missed open receivers down field and made bad decisions at times. Bama has had two great running backs but no QBs/playmakers like you see on most championship teams. Florida (Tebow), Auburn (Cam Newton), Florida State (Jameis Winston) and many others from history pushed their team to win. Bama has managed to win because of coaching and how the team plays together. Defensively we seem to reload each year pretty well but we have struggled with our offense (except for the years we had AJ). I really hope a lot of work is dedicated to the offense moving forward.

'Bama has had great success with workmanlike QB's (Simms, Coker) and thrived with good ones (McCarron), but Hurts just does not have the accuracy to make middle to deep throws and they'll continue to be vulnerable to what Clemson did to them last night. Can Bateman or Murphy throw? Otherwise, it might be a while before Saban wins #5.

IF Deshaun graduated in 3 years, shouldn't Clemson be offering him a free first year of Post-graduate schooling, doesn't he have 1 more year of eligibility?

Hurts is a true freshman, give the kid some time. Lets not forget Bama lead the entire game up until final 6 secs.

Hurts is a true freshman and if he had to learn touch, or ball placement, or timing I might think differently ... but it's is general accuracy that's just poor and I don't think he can overcome it and balance the requirements of being the starting QB of a powerhouse program. I think when you look at some of the other true freshman starters (Francois, Buechele, Eason) you see far better accuracy.

OTOH, 'Bama's still 'Bama and it's not like they're going to fall off the face of the earth.

Was listening and then read up on some interesting info on Hurts.

This year, he completely revamped his mechanics. Everything from how his foot placement to throwing motion. Give him some time and he may turn into a good QB.

But Bama also has the top QB coming in as a freshmen that some people are saying is the best HS QB in the last few years. He is expected to fight for the starting job as a true freshman, and will probably end up starting for them in the near future.

Agreed on mechanics. It's a big deal and it makes or destroys a QB's ability to adapt to the next level of play. Good for him. I root for guys like Hurts, even though I am a Bama hater. Just seems like an all around top notch guy in his personal life.

Speaking of recruiting, those publications are all over the place. It depends on which publication you read on these ratings, and then on top of that, some divide up position rankings. Especially for QB, they have at least 3 categories, Pro-style, dual-threat and then something else. Ohio State actually has the best dual-threat freshman coming in (Tate Martell), again it's just 1 or 2 publications who ranked Martell as the #1 overall dual-threat.

The one recruit that's going to put Bama solidly as the #1 class will be Najee Harris. That kid is a beast. Wish Ohio State was in the running, but we're loaded at RB for the next few years, I don't fault him for looking to Bama where there's room for him to start, even next year with Bo's injury.

it was about defensive depth this year for you guys. You can destroy teams in low scoring low possession type games. But when Clemson and Ole Miss runs 90 plays a game, your lack of depth is going to show. Really, no different for every team out there. The key is whether your 2's and 3's are as good as 1's. Some positions, it doesn't require much more development for 2's and 3's to perform in place of 1's, but for DBs, there's a huge gap between 2's and 3's vs 1's on any college team.

I agree, all about where you look.

But this Tua guy is getting compared to Aaron Rodgers when he came out and they say he is a better pure passer than Tate. Tate is a better all around athlete though, but he is also pretty small for a qb. Either way, Tate and Tua are gonna be monsters in college.

what? Regardless of whether he graduated or not, he still has 1 year of eligibility left. He's a true junior.

He has the option to transfer to any FBS school without sitting out a year, since he has graduated

all about the system they play in. With Sark, Tua will excel. With Urban Meyer, Tate will excel.

Let's put it this way, I doubt Bama and OSU are willing to swap these QBs if present the opportunity. These two play the style that's suited by their respective coaching staff.

BTW, anyone subscribes to the notion that the decades of top Bama recruiting classes has actually decimated the quality of SEC teams? It has happened in the Big Ten too with Ohio State under the past and current coach.

These team takes the top talent nationally and regionally, and even the #2 class in conference has slim pickings on 5 and 4 star kids. The rich gets richer, and when these monster programs gets going, it's hard to knock them off their throne (unless the coach leaves or there's NCAA sanctions).

I mean come on, if you were a fan of an SEC team or Big Ten team other than Bama and Ohio State, you must HATE how they turn a top 5 class every year and steals your top in-state kids.

I kept hearing "His last game at Clemson" last night. I didn't consider a transfer to somewhere else.

We certainly don't need him at #3 USC
