The human head is not flat, perhaps some people's are, so why are headrests hard, flat and extremely uncomfortable when resting your head on them after a long day. Headrests need to be more ergonomic and concave to cradle you spherical head. And I'm not talking about adding more padding, I mean overall shape.
I agree. The headrests tend to be an ongoing gripe for me. More attention should be paid to headrest design and integration. I hate the headrests in the G-Series 330i too.

They are like that because on the track you wear a helmet. It requires a bit of room.

Just don't get that option.

My comment was in reference to seat headrests in general. I'm not referring to race buckets. I should've been more specific. My bad!

So following the 4 series concept at Frankfurt, I revisited the M3 renderings thread set up by Jason.

The colours in there seem to match the descriptions. Could this be the IoM green ?

I think that even the headrests on the F8x Competition seats don't provide enough room for a helmet unless you recline the seat more than I like.

In any event, doesn't seem like rocket science to have some sort of removable headrest pad that fixes on the bucket seat headrest when you aren't wearing a helmet? Surely some after-market entrepreneur could make a quick $ on this?

Ha hilarious. Everyone complains about F80 not having enough colors and now that many colors offered, no one likes them. This is the widest ranging color palette I think the M3 has seen in stock, not individual form. Two awesome blues, red, green, yellow, black, gray, white... only colors missing are silver and purple.

I think its a great lineup... I'd also guess a silver appears at or before release (boring).

That doesn’t look too bad. I don’t think I’d seen the rendering of the rear before.

The blues seem a few shades off so I wouldn't but too much stock in this ... however, I do like this green and would be tempted by it!

License plate could be MON3Y ... jk... M3ANGRN maybe tho

Had a chance to see dravit and portimao and honesty not that impressed. Tanzanite too similar to ABM. I hope they add a silver option before launch. Be curious if individual colors or even "semi-individual" (like tanzanite used to be) will be offered at launch.

My biggest concern at this point isn't the grill, but the launch colors LOL.

I actually guess that Tanzanite Blue will still be a "semi-individual" color, which could mean that all the offered colors (including the "semi-invididual") are already included in this list.

At least I can't remember that a BMW Individual color ever became a standard color at some point (except some short-term special offers in certain countries).

Is ABM Azurite? I think Tanzanite is lighter and looks nice in the blazing sun, but it's kind of meh otherwise. It's disappointing there's not a unique blue at launch. Even though I disliked Yas Marina, at least it was something. I was hoping for San Marino since it became standard recently on the M4, but we get Portimao aka Poverty San Marino instead lol.

Yup ABM = azerite black metallic.

Looks like I might have to pony up for individual (if it's even offered at launch).

Very striking but also pretty cool but man it takes balls and thick skin to drive around in that if your 25+...

It is strange that they selected Portimao of all in production blue colors since it’s a G20 blue. I would much preferred the M exclusive Marina Bay blue from the M5.

Scott26 said in another thread that he hasn't seen the G80, but someone he knows has, and he described the color he saw it in as black-green. So I guess anyone hoping for a bright green should prepare for disappointment on that front.

Technically, they're head restraints, not headrests. You should never be resting your head on the head restraint while driving. That's not what they're designed for. They're specifically designed to prevent whiplash from a rear-end collision.

Audi comes out with awesome colors. I think I've just found two colors that I might opt for on the G8X.....Chalk Gray (..also found on the GT3) and Kemora Gray.

Just give me Silverstone and I'll be happy that color should never go away on M cars, IMO. I'd take Hockenheim Silver, too.
