If I recall correctly the old convertible has overlapped production with the new coupe and sedan before? I can’t say I’m sure since I’m not a vert. guy.

My recollection for the last generation (which was on the same relative timeline, seven years ago) is that deliveries started late that spring for the US. I believe some regions began even sooner, with one M3 buyer in the Middle East taking delivery in mid-March if memory serves.
So this means that the M3 had a 2019 model year, and then a 2 year gap, and then a 2022 model year will be released. This is unusual. From the E46 to the E92, there was a one year gap (no MY2007) and again frommthe E92 to the F90 another one year gap (no MY2014) but now a two year gap between M3 MYs?? Warum???

There are multiple mistakes in your post. Let me address each of them.

First, there was no E46 M3 sedan, so that generation is not valid as a point of comparison.

Secondly, the E90 M3 ended with MY2011. Production stopped in late December 2011.

Finally, there was no MY2019 F80 M3. It ended with MY2018 in October 2018.

Furthermore, as I said in my last post, the F80 M3 started production in early 2014 as MY2015. So there were no M3 sedans produced for just about two years - from January 2012 through December 2013. However, even more germane to the discussion - look at those model years. Even though it was only a two calendar year gap between the E90 M3 and F80 M3, there were in fact three model years skipped - MY2012, MY2013, and MY2014.

So then, if we project that same event chain onto the current timeline it would be:

1. Final F80 M3 as MY2018, ends late 2018 (already happened).
2. No M3 for two years - all of 2019 and all of 2020. Thus, no MY2019, MY2020, or MY2021 M3.
3. First G80 M3 as MY2022 in early 2021.

Hopefully the horse is dead and fully beaten now?

No, I don't believe that has ever happened.

M3 has been removed from bmwusa.com! Did anybody notice? Does this mean the new one will be out soon?

I didn’t notice, but it’s no surprise. The M3 ended production last year and was last available for MY2018. The rest of the BMW lineup is now on MY2020, so it’s high time the M3 was taken off of bmwusa.com.

There is no way BMW will take a car off market for that long. You will more than likely be able to order a M3 in the fall of next year. It will be a 2021 model.🙄

They did just that from the end of 2011 through the end of 2013, as I explained above. So, yes, BMW does take cars off the market for that long.

Ordering can happen in advance of a vehicle's start of production, so that may be. However, as I explained above, deliveries are not likely to happen until 2021, regardless of what the initial model year is.

I believe it's going to be released as a 2021-2022. I'd rather they take their time and give us something out of this world than to rush it and half ass...

Other automakers stepped it up big time, and although I don't feel like they took the crown, it's time for BMW to put everyone back in their places and remind them all why they target the M3, lol.

I would strongly encourage our readers to treat any posts from new users claiming to have inside information with heavy skepticism. Furthermore, posts sharing supposed inside information from dealership employees are best ignored outright.

Until dates from known-to-be-reliable inside sources are available, the best bet right now is:

- G22 4 Series begins production July 2020 (100% confirmed)
- G82 M4 and G80 M3 both begin production early 2021 (with late 2020 also still possible)

I have to laugh at these responses after mkoesel posts a detailed breakdown of past E90 & F80 M3 model release dates and uses this data to predict when the G80 M3 will be released, just a few posts earlier...

I also noticed that they both had <100 posts and joined in 2016, while mkoesel is a moderator, has been on this forum for 10 years longer, and has over 18,000 posts.

Speculation is great when it is based on sound information.

Your statement:

Was false. An argument from ignorance typically leads to subsequent invalid conclusions. What I would encourage you to do is understand the problem domain before making predictions. In this case, all you’d have needed to do was read the earlier posts in the thread to educate yourself before replying.

Right, just like with quantum physics:

My speculation is probably equal to Prof Sean Carroll's ... sure he's a Cal Tech theoretical physicist specializing in quantum mechanics, gravity, and cosmology, one of ~100 people in the World studying comparative quantum theory, and has been doing that work for his whole life.

So yeah, my speculation on physics is probably = to Prof Carrol's since we both speculate ... When you think about it, I'm kind of a genius!

Currently reading "Something Deeply Hidden" by Sean Carroll. It's mind blowing.

I’m getting a G82 as a present to my wife for a milestone occasion next year so I really, really want it to be available in 2020, but I have come to realize how easy it is to project ones wishes into unlikely scenarios. Everything is pointing toward an early 2021 launch. I wish it were sooner but a gift card it will be instead.

BTW, like me, she thinks the 4 Series concept is awesome. Weird family I guess.

I've posted this info a few weeks ago on a different thread, but the gist of it is this. The G80 M3 will enter production early 2020 with select deliveries starting as early as April/May 2020. Summer deliveries are all but guaranteed for the rest of the world. I can not say whether it will be a 2020 or 2021 MY designation, but I am leaning towards a shortened 2020 MY cycle for launch vehicles.

Competition package vehicles will closely follow.

Call it what you may, but you can always refer back to this post at a later date, you know, if you could ever use another good laugh.

I would again caution folks to ignore posts like the one above from forum members who claim to have information about production or delivery timelines without any established track record for accurately supplying such detail.

Most of you don’t need to be reminded that rumor control is of utmost importance when managing a website where anyone with internet access can come along and make bold claims. Sometimes new sources of legitimate information appear, and we always welcome such contributors. On the other hand, when members make false statements, contradictory statements, or are hostile and/or antagonistic, those sources must necessarily be treated with skepticism and information must be filtered. It’s no different from how, as an individual trying to make the best choices in day to day life, one disregards input that does not quite register high enough on the credibility meter.

Thankfully, with such great contributors as ynguldyn, SCOTT, and plenty of others, plus many additional trusted sources who contribute in less public ways, we are able to provide you information ahead of other media outlets. And most importantly, we have created a platform on which you can consistently rely to cut through the rumor and provide the truth in a no-nonsense way. All this while other sites ask you to wade through their click-bait, sensationalized stories, botched facts, and rampant unfiltered rumor spreading.

Now, as always, keep tuned into this thread and this forum for more great G8x M3/M4 coverage. We are excited as you are to hear about the next development in the story.

Is there a new ETA for when we expect them to show a final uncamo'ed car?

Any major shows coming up, etc? Do we think we will get a reveal prior to the close of the year?
