Still very pleased with aluminium mesh. Was considering open pore oak, but would be to dark overall.

Hope I'm not chiming it too late but are the trim parts for the center console and above the glove available to purchase from bmw and swap-able?

I have some knowledge of this because my BTO 330 was shipped with the incorrect wood trim. (I ordered the matte 'open pore' wood trim, but it was built with the high gloss.) The dealer ordered and swapped the trim at no cost to me, and in the process I saw the paperwork that was generated internally. The total invoice amount including install was $1200, which is what I assume they would charge you if you did it electively. I don't know what portion of that was parts vs. labor.

No other option but pore Oak for me, my reasons being:

1. I need minimized interior glare on sunny days, especially when some of the features such as HUD and eye sensor on drive assist pro do not play well with polarized sunglasses (and this requires me to wear regular sunglasses). This accounts for about 80% of my decision -- I simply cannot own a vehicle with excessive interior glare.
2. With my choice of black Vernasca leather, I felt the black open pore oak was the most attractive color option
3. Love the fact it won't show fingerprints, etc.
4. M sport on Mineral Grey with all black wheels looks sporty enough, and I felt the black wood adds a touch of upscale class - great aesthetic balance
5. Sounds corny but wood adds a kind of timeless "character" to the interior, just became attached to it during vehicle shopping phase

Looking at just pictures, I was really liking the dark open pore oak and thought the open pore maple looked drab. I was able to see a few in person with both options and pictures do sometimes lie! The oak looked like molded plastic and the maple was just unexpectedly beautiful. This was on a 330i m sport with black leather interior.

As for the aluminum... it’s not bad but prefer the mesh over the tetragon.

Unfortunatley because I've gone for black leather I think it makes the interior look a little too dark so in the end I went with the Aluminium Mesh.

If I had gone for Oyster leather or even brown leather I'd have chosen the wood grain.

Tetragon is horrible in my opinion, my dealer seemed to like it and it isn't as bad in person as the pictures but I would never choose it eitherway.

I saw a light colored wood trim at the dealer and hated it. I ended up buying a new one with the tetrágon. Not my fav but I like it better than the light wood.

If I get tired of it I'll pay $$$ and replace it in a few years. My preference is a dark colored glossy wood trim like my f30 had. Is that not an option for g20?

With my black interior I think black wood would make the overall effect too dark so I continue to like my aluminium tetragon trim…

I always said: Wood does not belong in a 3 series. Wood is for a comfy 5 series a up.

Aluminum = sporty
Wood = floaty comfort

I'm one of the rare few who enjoy a dark interior. I have the open pore ash dark grey wood with black vernasca seats and it looks great. Classy yet sporty. I don't think it's too dark at all. I'm not feeling that aluminum trim at all or that shiny wood look. Carbon would be nice but wasn't an option.

I wanted the dark unpolished wood, first. However, after having the aluminum tetragon for a year, I know that was the correct choice. It feels so nice to the touch and will make for an ageless look to the car.

Sure. This is mine and I love it. I just didn't like any of the stock options. I like this particular CF trim because it doesn't have that glossy finish like most do. You can actually feel the texture of the fibers.

I had Aluminum Trim on my X5 and my Z4, both got extremelyhot in the sun and was bright. I went with the matte oak and really love it. Can't go wrong with either in my opinion. I also had piano black trim in an X1 and couldn't keep it clean.

OP wood was my first pick when ordering my first BMW and it's been amazing. Looks clean always and very modern.

Went with the dark ash wood on ours because that's what was available on the Portimao Blue/Black w/Blue Stitching interior that we prioritized over the trim. Out of the wood trims, I like this one because it's very subtle. And, I'd much rather have this over piano black.

Wish carbon was an option from the factory, looks gorgeous. Just ordered some genuine Alcantara trim cover and stitch-on steering wheel cover for mine. Covers all the wood trim, gear selector, window switch area plastic (front and back), center console knee pads, and armrest for the front.

This looks great! I wanted the open pore black trim, but my car was specced with the glossy (which grew on me). I kinda prefer it too since everything else is matte finish too.

But this: this looks great! My dad's old E39 had black leather with brown wood trim and that look has always been in my head as the "achievement"

Gotta source one of these kits!!

I have aluminum on my M340 with black seats but went with open pore and beige seats on the M440 order.
