You'd think that the new plan of making M cars out of the regular kit of parts would mean that there wasn't a nearly two year gap when you couldn't purchase a new M3.

Guess we're expected to buy an M340i and head over to eBay for a few stick-on ///M badges now.

Seems like it may work out well, just hoping the comp pack/all-wheel drive version is available right away.

Yngulyn has already stated that SOP for the M3/M4 will be Nov 2020, and it seems logical to me that once production starts, orders will be taken. If this is correct, then the first units should begin showing up here in the States in about Feb/Mar 2021. I will start looking for the earliest allocation possible within reasonable distance in Sep/Oct, and hope for the best.

I believe both the base and Competition versions are available at launch. The CS version of new G Series M3/M4 will of course be later on.

Yeah it would be good to just have a less Camo’d version so we could at least see most of the damn car/grille

Since start of production is not until November 2020, reveal probably won't be until this summer. Possibly not until August so still another six months away.

My guess is we see the 4 series reveal in march to allow for ordering for July production start and probably right around mid summer the M3/M4 reveal. I wouldnt be surprised if we get some camo only press test drives ahead of that (if i recall SCOTT26 mentioned that was either likely or already in the works)

If I recall correctly BMW M GmbH have said something in the lines of, and I'm paraphrasing:

"We will learn more about the upcoming M cars [M3 & M4] in May of this year".

...sadly I can't find the source at this moment, will amend this post if I do so.

This photo shows they will start discussing the new M3/4 as of September this year.

I didn’t take the photo, it was sent to me by a Friend who was visiting the Welt and saw this conference going on through glass windows, they asked him to delete the pics

Why do a “secret” conference in a glass room?

The M4 & 4 series photos shown appear to be the concept 4

What does SOC stand for?

Yes this is what I can make out also, the 4er cabrio pic shows tiny grilles so I don’t think they are accurate depictions of the models.

We’re three weeks from the 4 Series debut according to that slide.
