The open pore oak seems to look better on G20. Looks like they don't have brushed aluminum anymore but that may not fit this new design as well but less prone to glare. Looks like they tried to do what Mercedes did with their open pore wood.

I got cognac leather and secured the open pore maple trim, but I chickened out and went with aluminum mesh last minute. I like the aluminum/cognac contrast. I feel like with the maple trim, it would've been too much brown.
Two photos (not mine) for reference.

The aluminum mesh was my first choice from pictures, but after seeing every trim choice in person, I felt that the aluminum trims both looked cheap. Given that I also had issues with the glossy trim in my last bmw reflecting sunlight, I decided on the matte open pore trim and love it with my white interior. This is actually the first time I have ever taken wood over aluminum trim in a car.

Cognac/Open Pore Maple. Very pleased with the selection.

I configured my G20 with Aluminum Tetragon with Black/Blue Contrast Stitching leather. My first BMW!
Enjoy the Sporty and premium look. Another bonus is if you accidentally spill coffee, juice, etc.. you can clean the aluminum trim much easier. Wood although painted and treated is organic and may tend to stain more. |

IMO none of the wood options looked right with Cognac in pictures so I went with Tetragon. Meh. The large print on the cupholder door is a bit much but it's usually open in my car. Doing it over I'd probably go with mesh.

Hi,
After seeing myson-in-law's Volvo V90 with open pore wood trim, I went with open pore Maple. I really like it DG20 , Thanks for putting up pictures of your interior -- mine's just like it

To all you Aluminum Tetragon owners, now that you have experience with it, what is your honest verdict...would you do it again, and what downsides have you found?

Downside of any trim is that it will eventually have scratch marks due to moving items in and out or adjustments around the centre opening and storage. If I had waited longer for mid July 2019 production models BMW included the the Aluminum Fabric Trim which I would consider. Alternatively, I would also consider the M-Performance Part interior trim: https://g20.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1540476 Last edited by WXdrivefun; 12-15-2019 at 08:30 AM.. |

i wanted sensatec since i know i'll put almost no effort into conditioning the leather and the sensatec seemed to match the aluminum mesh well. I really liked the open pore black wood, but felt the wood really only looks good with lighter colored seats that are leather which i didnt want to clean or maintain.
That said, I realize I'm set in my ways and boring. my last 2 cars and my m340i which is on order, all had aluminum trim, black seats and blue paint. |
