Is this proof that an all-electric 3 Series is in development?

I think It's time to bring it out, not only SAV's

By 2023, BMW is planning to launch as many as 12 new fully electric models as part of its ambitious electrification strategy. These will include electric variants of existing models, including the iX3 SUV based on the BMW X3 and the BMW i4 based on the 4 Series Gran Coupe. Rumors have also suggested electric versions of the 5 Series and 7 Series are coming. And now it looks like BMW is preparing a fully electric version of the 3 Series to take on the Tesla Model 3.

I know the i4 was going to be on the longer wheelbase to allow for a bigger battery, I think this looks like a Chinese spec L as well, I’m guessing it’ll be available worldwide though

Hope to see a performance variant if they do decide to make this.

It is proof of what we already knew - BMW is developing an electric version of the G28 3 Series L, which will be sold either primarily or exclusively in China.

It may be sold outside of China, but don’t expect as wide a release as the G08 X3 L based iX3. The i4 is the electric BMW “sedan” for most of the world.

The dual motor setup coming to the i4 will make over 500hp and allow vehicles equipped with it to hit 60 MPH in under four seconds. Whether the electric G28 gets this option isn’t known yet, but it doesn’t really matter to us in the US since it won’t be sold here anyway. The good news is the i4 definitely will be, including the high performance option.

Wow we're not getting the electric 3 series? I mean I kind of see how it'll eat sales of i4 by being cheaper but still having the option to choose which one we wanted would've been nice.
