[G2020VISION]

Anyone else experiencing the same issue with their G20? I fixed the dash speaker rattle under heavy acceleration in my m340ix thanks to someone on here, wish i could pinpoint the sunroof noise.

Any suggestions?

It's definitely the glass. I feel like it may need better moulding or something similar.

Ive heard in others threads that some people have either had their sunroof replaced by BMW for this. Not sure if thats the only fix or not.

That doesn't sound to far fetched, when I push up on the glass I feel the noise goes away some. Guess I may have to stick it out until my next service.. I don't want a loaner just yet.. figured there may have been some easy fix like the dash speaker vibration under acceleration.

I've had mine to the dealer 3 times to fix the sunroof issue with no joy. It goes away if you push up on it. It's super annoying and really kills the fun of the car.

My 2020 330i has the same sunroof rattle. I cant seem to isolate exactly what's causing it.

I've seen others mention stuffing a sock somewhere up there as a temporary fix for sanity lol

Mine does it as well, more so when cold. If I push up on the slider it's usually ok for a bit. Seems to be the cause, I honestly might just deal with it because the dealers here suck, and I don't want some hack tearing stuff apart potentially making it worse.

Question to the OP - are you talking about a true rattle or 'creaking' noise, which I have in my 2019 540i M-Sport.

Maybe a creaking type noise. Weather and temperature def plays a role

Agree on the weather and temperature influence although not the major issues IMO - my dealership has replaced two seals with little success, so it's not that and they also lubricated the seals and that didn't help - they are looking into permission to replace my moonroof with another one to see if that is the problem. Makes no sense to me as to why this issue should even be present - this is not some new technology that BMW is rolling out that might have some glitches (like iDrive 7)...

I feel as if the glass hasn't settled correctly in the moulding itself. I agree 100% because I've read around all of those minor things you've had taken care of does nothing but dampen the noise for a week. It's def something todo with the glass itself

Well, BMW has given permission for the dealership to change out the glass (probably sometime next week), so I will let you know how it goes...

Dealership told me it was due to some of the clips holding the weather strip on place. Just got my 330 back 2 days ago and it's fixed.

I just have to stick it out for a little while. Super busy but I need to have that addressed. that noise is annoying.. getting some coding done and when I do that or my service whichever comes first, I will def have them address that noise and push them to replace the glass.noise only partly goes away when you push up firm on the glass..

The rattling goes away when I tilt the sunroof and it will go away for a little while if I tilt the sunroof and then close it again.

It took me months of back and forth to the dealership to get this fixed. They replaced the sunroof cassette and the seal...those two things did not fix the problem. The ultimate fix was replacing the glass. I just got this done a few weeks ago and thankfully the rattle is totally gone.

Hope you guys get it squared away because it was one of the most frustrating things to deal with for close to three months of ownership.

It will come back most likely. It's the glass that needs to be replaced
