I'm considering the I4 as my daily driver for work. I was impressed by the M50 when I test drove it at M Town last year. One thing I was not too thrilled about was the leather type. I don't know if it had the sensatec or vernasca leather. I'm coming from merino leather in my X5M.
I drive 160 miles daily for 4 days a week and so I need something comfortable. I've driven the new 5 series and I think it's a comfortable car but I prefer to get something a bit smaller like the I4. The I5 is nice but it's big and slow. The I5 M60 is out of my price range.

Do any of you put on a lot of miles on your I4? I'm asking for 2 reasons: comfort and reliability. I've never owned an EV so I'm not familiar with maintenance and anything I need to be aware of once I'm past let's say 50k miles.

Any feedback would greatly be appreciated!

We only had 13k miles on our M50 before trading it in. My wife loved it, I enjoyed driving it but I disliked all the technology (personal opinion but I feel the I4 will make you less intelligent on how to operate equipment). The I4 left me stranded a couple of times for the same reason (software issue supposedly) less then a mile from my house.
As a daily driver (and me being an 6ft 2" F80 owner) I found the M50 decent. Personally I think there are better EV's out there.
The I4 is our second EV, our first was a 2013 Nissan Leaf than now lives with my 84 y/o dad down in Texas. That vehicle has 80k trouble free miles.
My suggestion to you as a potential first time EV buyer is to drive them all, even the ones you wouldn't ever consider actually purchasing. The best one for space and comfort believe it or not is the hyundai Ioniq 6. It's an ugly vehicle but the interior is amazing and getting in and out of it is effortless, as opposed to the I4, which I felt took more effort than it should. Again, this is coming from someone who has a dropped F80 and has no problem getting in and out of that vehicle.
FYI, we did not trade our M50 in for a Hundai, we went back to Nissan.

I've got 23,000 miles on my M50. The only problem I've ever had was the latch on my charging port broke. BMW fixed it for free.

I love this car. It has never left me stranded and is holding up great. We've driven it from Dallas to Austin a few times and from Dallas to San Antonio as well.

The Vernasca leather still looks great, and that's with a kid and two dogs.

I highly recommend the i4 M50.

I'm 37k and am a road warrior for work. It's a great car. 160 a day is nothing and you shouldn't have to use public chargers, which IMHO is the only downside right now. I'm sensatech and tbh my last leather interior was on my x3... It's not really different from a comfort perspective and it stretches and shows wear , where the sensatec needs no maintainance and looks great years down the road. Zero maintenance just keep it charged and expect to go through tires quickly. I have dapp and pap and it works really well and reliable sure I wish it did a few more things and had a better phone app but so far I've been super happy with my e40. Still looks and drives great.

The M50 to me is a better daily driver than my 2021 X6 (previous car). It’s also more comfortable for longer trips. Proof is in the pudding, I put quite a bit more miles on the i4.

And there's always sheepskin seat covers if you don't care for the sensatec.

Range anxiety is real and I have experienced it a bit, mostly unfounded, in 19K miles of ownership.

If you’re doing 160 miles a day, and charging 20-80%, and don’t want to charge during the day, the M50 may not have the range. Especially with battery degradation and hot days. E40 or E35 while slower accelerating may be better daily drivers for you. You can charge at night exclusively.
