Here is what I have done based on all the data that I have gathered through this thread. Full disclosure: Do this at your own risk!!!!

This is what worked for me.

Make sure that you have the latest version of Bimmer Code installed on your device.

Body Domain Control Menu, Expert mode change everything below as stated previously.

LIC_FEATURE_14 enable -> disable
LIC_NIVEAU_OVVERRIDE_INDEX G20_US_code2 -> G22_ECE_code2
LIC_NIVEAU_OVVERRIDE_DATA_0 G20_US_code2 -> G20_ECE_code1
LIC_LOG_LAMP_2_PHYS_LAMP_INDEX G20_US_code1 -> G20_ECE_code1
LIC_LOG_LAMP_2_PHYS_LAMP_DATA G20_US_code1 -> G20_ECE_code1
LIC_EDGE_CUTTER_RULE_ASSIGNMENT G20_US_code -> G20_ECE_code

And then go ahead and execute the coding.

Now this is the step that we all have been missing.

Once you are done with above coding, do not touch anything and go back to the expert mode and pull up

LICVERSIONDATA

Bimmer code has different values added to this list after you code above which were not present before or if you do all the coding at once. Based on the actual codes that larrylam646 & moproblems provided, I scrolled through the entire list and found values that matched their data around 98%. Could you explain a bit more on what to do on the UNKNOWN value, does it need to be changed?

It is a set of parameters that are pre-identified within bimmer code.

Unknown 28 had the closest parameters to below provided values.

71,14,09,02,08,44,06,4F,00,0A,14,02,B4,C8,02,F0,0F ,3E,D4,2C,27,32,03,03,07,02,28,78,3F,EF,16,0C,04,0 A,27,0F,77

In other cases the UNKNOWN number can be different but above are the values listed that you are looking for. So chose whichever UNKNOWN has the values listed above which in my case was UNKNOWN 28.

Not sure if this is something that I would attempt as a newbie TBH.

Got it, will a backup revert these settings back if it breaks the software?

It should as it is one of the benefits of bimmer code.

Thanks to larrylam646 for all the detailed information on this subject. I completed my light conversion project today thanks to more excellent coding work by kubax86

The background for my project is that I recently purchased a US spec M3CX through BMW military sales in Germany and drove it back to my base in England. Due to englands laws, I had to convert my rear turn signals to amber and I have to enable rear fog light functionality. With out these items I would not be able to register the car.

For my project o decided the cheapest path to compliance was BayOptik GTS style tails because they have amber turn signal functionality out of the box and have rear fog LEDs built in. They are also cheaper than OEM replacements. I also bought an OEM UK/Euro light switch.

I used the detailed wiring instructions provided by Larry to add the needed wiring. This was by far the most painful part as accessing the front BDC panel is difficult d/t the tight space.

This afternoon kubax86 completed the coding (10min) and boom! It’s done!

You can see in the attached still of the tail light the amber signals and the fog activated.

Would you share your BimmerCode backup file? I’m curious if it would work that way,

Any luck decoding the ambers on the adaptive LEDs?

E90 Fog lights not working

Hi guys.

I had my FRM module re-flased a few months ago after replacing the battery. Recently I noticed my fog lights don't come on and the aircon and sunroof button lights flicker, the fog light indicator on the cluster lights up but fogs don't come on. I had the frm swopped out with a working one and still have the same issue, I also change the fuses and fog light switch and still no luck. What could be the issue?

There are no faults on the diagnostic report or warning lights on the dash

I lost this taillight functionality when the dealership service department re-flashed my car about a month ago.

On top of that, BimmerCode's "Unknown" options have changed drastically since the original coding I did and I can't get the individual blinking to come back properly.

Use BimmerCode & BimmerUtility, or Esys.

Under the BDC Module in expert mode, there are four groups labeled as LaMaster 1-4. The relevant ones are identified by LA1, LA2, LA3.

The values you'll need to adjust are found after the "|" in the lines below:

LA1

C_BLC_PRE_ENA | 1
LUT_FLC_FORWARDLIGHTING_Y | AFS

LA2

C_AFS_ECO_LEVEL_3_ENA | 01
C_AFS_ENA | 01

LA3

LUT_AFS_CODRV_HOR | standard/init
LUT_AFS_DRV_HOR | F040_G005_AHL...
C_CLC_CURV_V2 | 23
C_CLC_CURV_V3 | 28
C_CLC_EXT_ENA | 01
C_HBA_DIM_ENA | 01
C_HBA_GFHBA_ENA_V_HI | 3C
C_HBA_GFHB_ENA | 01

There are also four additional codings in the lane assist camera "KAFAS04" which are currently inaccessible with BimmerCode. However, BimmerUtility or Esys is available for these changes.

——

The below adjustments are expected to reduce the auto dim's sensitivity to streetlights and sign reflections, while also tightening the beams. The High Beam Assistant (HBA) should still perform exceptionally well even without these changes.

C_FLA_COUNTRY_WITH_MULTIPLE_REFLECTORS | 01
C_FLA_US_SENSITIVITY_MODE | 00
C_FLA_BS_ENTER_THRESH | 03
C_FLA_BS_EXIT_THRESH | 02

Let me know if you have any questions !

Finally got this working on my ‘23 G20 LCI

None of these parameters worked. Using BimmerUtility change car config type to EU -> Save -> VO Code ONLY the rear tail light modules.

It will work!

When I try to VO code the front headlights they throw all sorts of errors, and flash my drls, so I only recommend VO coding taillight modules with new parameters.

If anyone else has a G20, I can just send a copy of my taillights file!

Based on the actual codes that larrylam646 & moproblems provided, I scrolled through the entire list and found values that matched their data around 98%. I studied the entire list carefully and what I ended up choosing was the only set of data that started with 71, 14 and 09 which is identified as UNKNOWN_28 in my case (based on your vehicle's options your UNKNOWN number might be different) (Pay attention to the values!). The rest of the data on Bimmer code under any of the other UNKNOWNS were not even a close match and there was only one set of data that started with 71 in my case.

See below pic for UNKNOWN_28 for the values I selected…
Thank you so much for this! I thought I needed to use Esys or BimmerUtility but BimmerCode worked! Though I will point out for my particular car, 2022 M340i with laser lights, a few things were different:

For LIC_NIV_OVERRIDE_INDEX, mine was set to G20_…_LCI_code1. I think it’s safe to assume the default value don’t matter as long as you’re able to change it to the new value. Just take note of what the original was in case you need to go back.

My LIC_VERSON_DATA was set to “Unassigned value.” For some reason my list is not the same as your pic. I don’t have any of the Unknown_2x values. Instead I have a bunch of UnknowParam(then a bunch of numbers). Then the 0x13 0x14 0x0B etc under it.

I simply selected the UnknowParam that started with 0x71 and it worked!

I checked everything else and seem to be fine as well. Even checked holding the brakes with turn signal to make sure the brake lights don’t blink! Thanks again for this! Really happy and made my evening!

I recall there was an option in bimmercode to add your own. Maybe that would work? Of course, you’d need to know the correct string of numbers…

Finally got Euro lights for G22/G82 4 series!

After following this thread for months, I've finally was able to get euro tail lights working for my G82 M4, US spec.

Name:  IMG_0443.jpeg
Views: 699
Size:  481.9 KB

Parts:
  • About 120 ft of 18 AWG Wire
  • 12 X connector pins (61138369696) (I ordered 20 from my local dealer since they come in packs of 10)
  • 1 X Euro light switch with rear fog button (61319461141 or 61319461142)
  • A set of euro tail lights or equivalent, I used a set of aftermarket GTS tail lights

Unlike the G20/G80's the G82 is wired up for brake/turn signal with a single wire. To get euro tail lights, I had to wire up the following connects to the BDC board in the passenger footwell: (LEFT is driver side, RIGHT is Passenger Side)
  • RIGHT OUTER LIGHT (PIN 4) -> BDC A58*5B (PIN 19)
  • RIGHT INNER (PIN 4) -> BDC A258*3B (PIN 50)
  • RIGHT INNER (PIN 1) -> BDC A258*5B (PIN 20)
  • LEFT INNER (PIN 4) -> BDC A258*3B (PIN 38)
  • LEFT INNER (PIN 1) -> BDC A258*5B (PIN 12) (right hand drive fog lights)
  • LEFT OUTER (PIN 4) -> BDC A258*5B (PIN 11)

Name:  rear_left_light.png
Views: 685
Size:  150.5 KBName:  rear_right_light.png
Views: 685
Size:  163.7 KB

The hard part of the whole wiring part is the actually put the pins in the socket, I've definitely mangled some of the connect trying to fit the pins. I only know about the connector pins (61138369696) that larrylam646 posted in the an earlier post and it seems to be bit bigger then the OE pins for the outer light connecters. I've try to find the right pins with no luck but was able to make the connector pins work with some patience. Those pins are gonna be a tight fit for all the connects, (inner tail lights and BDC board) but the biggest thing is to take your time, make sure your crimps are good and making good solid connection with the wire.

For dual fog lights, I wired both the fog lights together and connected it to pin 20 and now I have dual rear fog lights.

Don't forget to install the euro light switch, it was kinda hard to pop it out, just take your time and work around the perimeter with a trim removal tool. This switch is plug and play.

Views: 677
Size:  490.4 KB

I've attach some wiring diagrams that helped me with my install. I'll try to attach some photos of the progress.

Now to the coding, I tried TTG bimmercode coding and I wasn't able to get the inner turn signals to work and I also get hyper flashing but I was a good starting point for sure. Unfortunately I had to bust out the laptop with Esys and Bimmerutlity. I changed my vehicle type code from "43AZ" to "41AZ" (LHD EUROPE) and then coded the BDC_BODY3. And voila, everything is now working! I have working euro turn signals, and fog lights.

I understand that not everyone have access to Esys. TTG 's instruction is almost there and I think its the LIC_VERSION_DATA that would have done it for me if I had know what was. This is my LIC_VERSION_DATA:

wert_33 (DD,14,0B,0C,8A,3E,01,4F,00,0A,14,02,B4,C8,02,F0,0 F,41,D4,2C,27,32,03,03,07,02,6C,78,3F,EF,16,0C,04, 0A,27,0F,77)

I am going to attach the NCD comparison result for NCD 5665 and 7083 so anyone can feel free to see what changes a euro car has vs a us spec car in BDC. I'll also attach the actual NCD if that can help (might even help with anti-dazzle coding?)

Now if I had to do it over again, I'm not sure if it's 100% worth it, but I was a fun learning process, understanding how it works behind the scenes. I mean who uses turn signals anyway?

The wiring diagram specifies 0.75 diameter wire which is the closest to 18awg wire.

.75mm2 is 20AWG stranded wire, this may explain your problem with the connectors. 18AWG wire (1mm2) is too big for this application.

Honestly, I’m seeing mixed sources on this such as https://lexproducts.com/technical/wire-conversion

I wasn’t 100% sure so I went with a high gauge just to be on the safer side. I’m sure 20AWG would work just fine.
