this is by far the best looking body style for the g8x. shame we can't get a manual--I actually suspect you would have some reasonably strong uptake for the B58-powered model in 6MT.

The UK is as SUV mad as the states sadly. Mainland Europe, a bit more tasteful.

I'd happily buy an M3 or even M340 touring now if there was an easy way for me to store it over there, have someone maintain it etc. until I could import it in 25 years but the logistics of doing that are a big headache.
Buy this, let me drive it for 25 years, you can have it after?

Up yours bmw for keeping this from us. I'm looking at xf sportbrakes as my next ride because we don't get any touring option from then. Utter travesty

It's a wagon. Manual transmissions were offered for years in previous generations of estate cars, especially from BMW.

Reason it's not offered isn't that it goes against the intent of the car, it's bc people aren't buying cars w/ a third pedal.

This isn't a Bentley Bentayga, where yes a manual would be at odds with the nature of the car. This is a regular everyday 3 series wagon where a manual is totally appropriate.
Appropiate 15 years ago maybe. For some reason americans are obsessed with manuals despite them barely existing over there for most of their life.
In Europe we grew up on manuals and I do not see the benefit in them now as auto boxes are so much quicker and refined.

The man here knows exactly what they are good for and thats why he has a nice little mx5 manual.

No one is arguing quickness in shifting in an auto vs manual.

Also no one is putting down lap times in a 340 wagon. Which makes the manual even more apropos on this car.

Having a stick and a 3rd pedal is another level of driver connectedness, which is why so many people are "obsessed" with them.

I also hear plenty of Brits complaining that the new M3/4 doesn't offer a manual option. Unless Brexit means the UK is no longer part of Europe.

Btw, nice car OP. Not trying to hijack your thread.

I don't mind the auto, the zf8 is fantastic at what it does and suits the b58, plus this is my "sensible family car".

My fun car is 316hp, 350lbft, 2300lbs and the only driver aids are a limited slip diff and power steering. The 5 speed manual in that gives me a workout 😂

Oh, and DenHaag3er - it's not an MX5

The m340i is fast enough, economical, comfy, quiet, etc.

Just not sure what the extra £25k would buy me given that I use an M2C for work and an old fashioned manual V8 for fun.

The m340i hits 60 in the low 4's, I don't think my kids and dog would appreciate going any faster 🤣

Interesting. Last car dealer I was in anywhere in EU was Audi Stockholm and the showroom floor was 75%+ touring / wagon. I'm 40 now would be a perfect car to drive at 65 when I am retired. Math doesn't work with all the added expense we're talking RS6 Avant or Panamera Turismo money.
Yeah not to mention you are on average looking at a price that is ~30~50% (depending on country) more than the US especially now with the weak dollar. I could've gotten a base model Panamera Sport Turismo in the US for what a G21 cost me here in Switzerland

Beautiful car. Great color combo. Ridiculous we can't buy a new one in the USA. I have a 2019 330xi sport wagon that has been great. It's coming out of lease soon. I am inclined to buy it because there are no signs BMW NA will change their policy of not bringing over wagons.
