Any experience with smoked/tinted headlights?
I have a mineral gray/shadowline M340
I am thinking about lightly smoking/tinting the headlights. Has anyone done this? Any expert advice? Would be done by a professional (i.e. not me) just looking for any experience or wisdom you all have to share. Thanks! |

If you do it, do it very lightly as it takes away some brightness from the fantastic headlights.
Don't recommend doing this yourself either unless you have a lot of patience and a lot of extra tint in case you mess up. Any tint/vinyl shop should be able to knock out two headlights in like 15 mins and it would be much cheaper if you already have the materials. These guys have pretty good quality and a wide array of types/darkness: https://www.luxeautoconcepts.net/

I put these on about six weeks ago. I think. I originally ordered the "light" tint but then there was a mix-up during shipping and I got the mid-level smoke. I debated whether I should do it but I said screw it and put 'em on. Never know until you do it. Here's my honest take... yes, they do reduce light output but not so much that it makes driving a hazard. I have no issues driving at night on an unlit highway. Still see everything just fine. Turn signals still flash fairly bright off of reflective signs. What is nice, however, is no one flashes me anymore thinking my headlights are too bright. So it must be helping out oncoming traffic which in my opinion is a good thing.
Install wasn't too bad. Honestly, small tint jobs like these are cake. Watch a few videos. Understand the process. Get the right tools for the job (low-temp heat gun and a tinter's felt-lined squeegee) and some soap water and you're good to go. |

Btw… got the tint through the folks at Midnight Motorsports. Good people and excellent with communication. Figured that might be important to know if you are looking at a similar color combo/look. (No I don’t work for them or will I make anything from the reference.)

Do you still have the headlights tinted? If so, can you upload a pic with the DRLs on? |

Installed a set, I thought it would be easier since it was my first time - I'd probably install it better next time but it does the job -
