Retrofitting G14/G15/G16 M Shifter Cover

I would love to swap out the shifter cover to the "M" cover from M850ix in my G20. From what I can tell the shifter assembly is the same part used in most of the current models. So it looks like it could be done. Has another else done this retrofit? To order the M cover it comes with the shifter repair kit. 61-31-9-475-059.

I asked the same question a few weeks ago and got no response.

First time I have heard or seen this 'repair kit'.

I have this in my list, however I want to do it together with the red button (OEM)...
...still looking for a way to order the button without the need to buy the entire console...

I've asked this same question on another BMW forum and 2 G20 facebook groups and got no responses.

Are you referring to the red start button?

Not looking great then but someone somewhere must have a definite answer

I think the poster does mean the starter button as I'm in that boat too.

I looked up the BMW repair instructions which has you removing the shift knob to remove the shift panel.

The red starter button is easy to do and very inexpensive to purchase.

The IND (of which I have no connection to) red start/stop button is pretty high quality, and looks a lot nicer than any of the Chinamart specials. I'd say it's definitely OEM quality.

I would recommend the IND button as well!

BMW hasn't offered a red button for any of the current models. To get the red button you would have to swap out the shifter assembly with one from a G8x.

Yes I know this it's just trying to get a hold of an OEM which brings me to....

...I've had a few looks at the IND one on their site and although it may be of higher quality the shots still show the same gap in the I of ENG I NE
