Can shark fin cover be easily removed?

Was thinking about wrapping the roof of my M340 Gloss black and wanted to remove the cover & paint it as well. Is it something that can be popped off from the top with a trim tool or is it a bigger job like dropping the headliner & attacking it from underneath? Thanks for any input.

It's actually somewhere between those two scenarios. So it can absolutely be removed from the top with no need to drop headliner however it is held in place with heavy black adhesive that puts up more of a fight vs simple double sided tape (like on emblems etc) and heat doesn't help all that much

What my vinyl installer did (when having my roof wrapped) is take a small flat blade and actually cut through the adhesive at the base - I have seen this same technique used by others too

For reinstall you will have two rough (but complimentary surfaces) so adhesive can be used to reinstall

I'm sure there are many different approaches this is just the one I am familiar with

Hope it helps

The fin doesn't need to be removed for it to be wrapped.

It will give me the ability to paint the fin off of the car and I'll have the added bonus of being able to run the wrap under the area that the cover sits for what should make for a cleaner install.

Indeed and it is a worthy adversary - you will win the fight but don't underestimate your opponent going in
