Slight OT- Anyone rocking a C8 Z06? Any Experiences/Ownership?

Not an exact comparo from a pricepoint scenario but a car some here may consider in lieu of or as an addition to their amazing G8X's...

My interest has been piqued over the past half year but the ADM's while not excessive still gave me pause for a car that is readily on the ground.

I asked this in the M8 section and the replies were limited and the experience sparce; but here the membership is deeper and I was hoping to see what your experiences were as an owner or even as a test driver?

I have seen alot of videos, read the reviews, and heard that amazing exhaust so maybe a few here have some tangible real world experience with the car.

Appreciate.

I like everyone else was on some lists. Even after I saw the Z06, I just can’t get over how horrible the back is!! Blows my mind that Chevy let it out like that. Its way worse then the G 80/82 grills. It sucks cause I do like the rest of the look. Good thing is, you want one just go get one. Just cost you a few xtra beans

Interested, as well. Drove a regular C8 and wasn’t that impressed by the drive or how it was put together.

I went 992 Turbo S and that’s been a great move. Love the sheer performance and versatility. Still curious about the Z06.

a guy on the f80 page got one recently. was like 12k over msrp for a used one with z07 pack. i think at that price its still a steal because there is nothing on the market like it unless you are talking about the GT3 or a used 10-15 year old 458 italia. Everything else is turbocharged with a low redline.

I dont have any first hand experience with the Z06 but if the GT3 6spd didn't exist i'd have one. I owned a 458 for 3 years prior and if were to go back... i'd strongly consider the Z06 over it because it seems like a newer improved version with a larger dealer network and warranty.

Hey Vic55 this guy does a lot of work on Corvette's. Tons of videos of the work he has done.

Interesting recent take on the C8 Z06...

The 458 has always been a lust for me, but like many other cars, prices went from reasonable to insane and would never pay nearly $200K for what most are asking for.

Its a mixed bag Ive found on the Z06 thus far, 1lz, 2lz, 3lz, Z07 package, etc ... msrp from 118k with lighter options to 17x fully loaded ...hard top removeable and Vert with power roof. Some CA dealers are 10k over no matter what car they have and another hit me at 4k over today with one try. I really need to drive this car as while I like to watch reviews- the personal taste test counts.

carbon wheels are like 14k damnnnnn

but this video gave me a semi ..

Misha Charoudin who owns a rent a track-car buisness on Nuremberg Ring, makes youtube content, and part-time race pro; posted a video of two laps in the Z06 last week. It looks to be the most capable Z06 yet.

Well I walked in to see the car and drove it home ... so far so brilliant except for the hard rpm hold until 500 miles LOL as I love to just break in my car from mile 1...

More pics to come but what a sonorous sounding engine and handler. After 14 M's, 12 AMG, Nine 911's, 3 R8's, 2 RS7's, and countless other great cars like Ferrari, Lambo, Bentley, Jag, etc ... this is my first ever domestic car purchase, truck, SUV, or otherwise. I like it

Design by committee. They wanted a mid-engined car AND a trunk that can fit two sets of golf clubs. The result is a rear end that would make every female rapper jealous.

Its definitely wide and outside at almost 80 inches though .... in contrast to our G80's at 74 inches

Congrats! I have one too along side my G80 M3. The Z06 is a fun track car, if a bit of a wild ride with all the power.

Awesome maybe I can pick your brain on some of the drive modes as all Ive ever had are German cars for the most part...

So here I go:

How is your Z mode set up?
Any mods?
How the hell do you get rid of that yellow front collision logo LOL
Whats the difference between Race 1 and Race 2 (manual is so damn vague)

Ill have more LOL

Ive already ordered the Paragon Collars for the front along with 15mm spacers in the rear and am looking at high flow cats instead of the rear section.

My Z mode is setup with full kill exhaust, brakes, engine. Sport suspension (track is too firm unless on track), sport steering

As far as mods, I have 19" wheels and tires for the track, racing brake pads, SRF brake fluid, and a track alignment.

I have a 2023, so I don't have the front collision and other stuff the 2024's have. There is a way to turn off all that in the menus though.

So PTM race 1 is ESC off with still some traction control, PTM race 2 is ESC off with the least amount of traction control for PTM modes. But to really get full power you have to turn traction control off, or turn both ESC and traction control off. All of the PTM modes limit power.

The paragon collars are tricky, google it and you will see that some folks have issues with them and it's not under warranty if you take it to the dealer to fix the mag shocks. I don't have front lift, so I set my ride height without them.

Exhaust wise, if you want it louder you are either younger than me (48) and not deaf yet or just mental which I was when I was younger LOL But anyway I would suggest you go with a merged rear section over high flow cats. The cats will throw codes and the ECU isn't tunable yet. The merged rear sections move the pitch up higher to the more traditional Ferrari FPC V8 sound if that's what you are looking for and the ECU won't complain.

Thanks Mike, all great info and I appreciate.

I did do some research on the collars (i have that lift up front) and didnt see any issues but probably need to dig deeper.

I think Im going to pass on the HFC's and go your route with the merged rear (If I mod the exhaust)... any good brands that you suggest?

So the max power is with all the nannies off- any way to program that with the Z mode or do I have to push all the buttons?
