Some obvious cost cutting in the interior, but that’s across all models. |

3.5 is super fast! I feel like my f80 tuned was faster than my m340i. I must be spoiled cause i don't think the m340i is 3.5 fast but it must be!

I've driven both (with adaptive suspension) and they're virtually identical driving.

I came to my M340i from an LCI F10 535i M Sport on 19” non-RFT, that I quite loved. Initially, I described the M340i suspension as “stiff” but a short adjustment period later, I now describe the M340 suspension as “firm”. I think it is not just semantics and there is a difference between those terms and “firm” suspension helps makes this car as good as it is.

M340i ride is firm -- Tires with better ride comfort?
I got my 2021 M340 xDrive a month ago. It came with 19" wheels and 225/40R19H Pirelli P7 runflat tires. Yes, it is very firm, not quite "harsh," but too firm for my taste. That's even in Comfort mode. It is equipped with Adaptive Suspension. The M340i is a notch firmer than my 2019 440i (F36), which also is an xDrive with Adaptive Suspension. On both cars, I had the runflat tires removed and replaced with Bridgestone Potenza RE980 all season tires, hoping to smooth the ride out significantly. It made almost no difference. However, the 440i is definitely smoother.
I think the M340i may have gotten even got firmer with the Potenza RE980s, due to the stiffer sidewalls of a "W" speed-rated tire. The "H" speed-rated Pirelli P7 Runflats were not great, though. (I'm surprised to see only an "H" speed rating, which is not to be driven faster than 139mph, on a car that has a nominal top speed of 155mph -- what's up with that, BMW?) On a smooth roadway, of course, a firm ride doesn't matter much at all. It would be fine if you could always avoid rough roads and speed bumps and potholes, but this isn't Japan or Germany. It's the US of A, land of the pickup truck, endless roads, temperature extremes, and urban decay. I can't replace the shocks (even if there were something softer available), especially on a lease. I could get a set of 18" wheels & tires, but it seems ridiculous to spend around $3K just for that. I want to try switching the tires again on 30-day warranty to a softer riding tire. Based on Tire Rack user reviews for Ultra High-Performance All-Season, it looks like a close match between Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+, Goodyear Eagle Exhilerate, and Continental ExtremeContact DWS06, all 8.5/10 for Comfort. But the Bridgestone Potenza RE980 is rated at 8.2, so maybe it's hardly worth it. For Summer UHP tires, however, the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S is at 9.0, and the Continental ExtremeContact Sport is at 8.7. Any strong recommendations for comfortable tires from other M340i owners? I’m looking forward responses on this question. Comfort isn’t my first priority but I am interested in responses about those same UHP all season tires. Midwest driving is such a mixed bag with all four seasons and the constant drought to monsoon swings on both new and decaying roadways.
In another thread I asked about the Goodyear Eagle Exhilarate and received only one response which was generally favorable, but maybe a little too much road noise for the poster. |

In hindsight I should have ordered my car without the runflats. Should have gotten the staggered high performance non-runflat setup, and with adaptive suspension. Oh well.... There's always next time....

I'd say my AWD with adaptive in comfort mode is very 'comfortable', wouldn't class it as stiff at all. I usually drive in sport mode which is firm'ish but I'd still like it firmer, and lower. Looking at getting the ACS lowering springs which should firm it up slightly. |

I would never take a performance vehicle with runflats. It cripples the car.
My M340i was ordered with the tire/oil performance package. If it wasn't, I'd have immediately put new NRF shoes on it after delivery.
