I'm more interested in how this new 3 feels while driving.
The most important aspects of any sport sedan are how the driver connects to the car, and how the car behaves and responds to the driver. If the grill design is a bit odd or different, of if the taillights stick out an inch too far, or if the exterior has some odd bend in some panel, that is superficial to me. I judge my cars from the driver's seat and how it feels first, and then how the rest of my body extends and connects with the interior and the controls, and how that works or doesn't work. I'll take a plain and simply interior, like the new Tesla 3, as long as the feel, fit, and connection from the driver's seat fits what a driver wants and needs. BMW and other brands tend to lose their way a bit because too many non-driver cosmetic demands as a priority to demanding that a driver's car and/or sport sedan, first and foremost satisfy the driver's needs. But, that's just me. I'm in the minority of those who prefer function over fashion. |

Does the exhaust not come out of that area? If not, then where does the exhaust gas actually come out at? |

Lets start with a funny but not funny one: Mazda no longer benchmarking BMW but Toyota Instead. Mazda! I guess that this will tell you a lot. https://www.bmwblog.com/2018/02/24/m...oyota-instead/ https://www.autoguide.com/auto-news/...-s-handle.html "BMW enthusiasts know that some things have changed at the Bavarian marque and it is no longer prioritizing driving joy, despite proclaiming it is building the "ultimate driving machine." The way engineers program steering feel, engine response, and exhaust noise are making modern-day BMWs less engaging to drive, the connection between the driver and the machine is almost lost." https://www.motor1.com/news/233390/m...oyota-not-bmw/ "Outside of its top-shelf M cars, most modern mainstream Bimmers lack the tactile engagement and driving joy that characterized their forebearers." http://www.thedrive.com/news/18599/m...nchmarking-bmw BMW acknowledge that the old cars where better and that newer generations are not what BMW used to be. Obviously BMW Development Chief heard that from too many sources, not just me... http://www.thedrive.com/news/24140/b...rs-were-better M3, a broken benchmark. https://www.motor1.com/reviews/12678...-sedan-review/ https://axleaddict.com/auto-industry...-The-Benchmark A comparo in 2017 https://www.cars.com/articles/luxury...1420695984144/ I do not recall how many articles in Auto Motor und Sport, Car & Driver and other publications said that BMW lost the benchmark crown. Is gone. Many models failed to impress, from dynamics, to interior quality or performance. I wish I can still have all these magazines to show you, but if you have a collections please dig in the last few years and you will get your answer. Never in the past BMW brought a new car with less HP (228HP) than previous model (241HP) and a worse platform - UKL with FWD. This while Mercedes has a 375HP, Volvo Polestar 362HP, Honda Civic 306HP, Audi TT 292HP, Jag F-type 296, etc. All 4 cylinder engines. So? From my own personal point of view I can see that after so many BMW in my yard, the new ones are cheaper and not that great. My cheapest car in my life, never had a dead engine; not to mention at 80.000km. But BMW offered me this sad and costly experience. I love BMW more than you think, yet, slowly I started to swallow the hard pill of "not so great anymore". I hope it will be better. Love the new 5 but is too big for me. If the new M3 will deliver a cleaner design, I might be interested. |

will see how this one will hold up, as the old N20 is a subject to a class action that is on the roll right now. Anyway, I am getting bored of the funny comments. Obviously, the other brands might have more horses, but they are skinny... Last edited by Teutonic; 12-04-2018 at 01:35 AM.. |

appreciated BMW trying to go to modern looks and all, but honestly in my opinion if you look through the model, the F30 still have more "icon" to it on BMW comparing to this far. There is a distinctive feel to the F30 and maybe earlier models comparing to this one, couldn't explain more

I was at the auto show and saw that car (not too shabby). Let's just hope they don't bring them in from Africa to the US. The German made ones should be pretty good. HP and torque numbers are quite good.
