First time modding G20 - am I on the right track?

Recently picked up my first BMW, a G20 M340i. I was planning on (over time) putting on a down pipe, charge pipe, exhaust, JB4, bigger breaks, and an intercooler. Not necessarily in that order. I'm aware that after doing this I'll need to maintain it more rigorously, but how drastically will all these mods affect the reliability of this car? Will I be seriously shortening the life of my transmission? Is it idiotic to mod and tune my daily this aggressively?

I’m somewhat new to the tuning/sports car world in general, wondering if you guys think I’m on the right track here? If someone has put a similar combo on their M340i, please share your experience! I'm especially curious about the effectiveness and reliability of the JB4.

Also would be grateful for some recommendations as far as good, high quality aftermarket brands. Thanks!

Charge pipe upgrade is not needed, the stock one holds 600 hp, we don't have intercoolers, the brakes are already very good, maybe just install better pads. All you need is downpipe and an actual tune (Ecutek, Bm3, MHD). JB4 is just a piggy back.

"We don't have intercoolers"

Ah yes we do, it's in the intake manifold and it is a water intercooler. It's why we have two radiators.

But yes just a downpipe and a proper tune and you are good. The rest is more for those that want to ditch money. Little benefit, if any.

Most people refer to an intercooler as the a2a one in front of the car. But yes we do have a water-to-air intercooler with a heat exchanger mounted in the front. But I can guarantee OP is not buying a $4000 W2A intercooler upgrade to run JB4 lol

I think its best to research before buying mods; it sounds like you are not as familiar with the car.

Once you pick the correct mods, these are base upgrades; as long as you run the recommended maps, you won't notice a drop in reliability.

I've had the JB4 for about year and a change and it has been good. But at the end of the day save your self the money and the time, get a actual tune.

I say that because MOST OF US END UP THERE anyways. It is the ultimate point for most owners.

JB4 has been great for me but it will not be consistent as a true tune will ever be.

Don't get me wrong, plenty of people call it a day with JB4 + DP + E30, but it cannot make you stop wondering, "what if." Even the JB4 aficionados will tell you that tune is will bring the most CONSISTANT power compared to any piggy box ever could.

It will be like going from comfort to sport +, only difference is that the Sport + will be like the comfort (!) and the tune will be like Sport ++!

I have the JB4 but I also just got MHD. (Waiting for the MHD unlocker, ordered) After I install it and see how it is, I'll post some of my thoughts but I already know that it will be great.

If your DME is pre - 06/2020 then you are golden. I highly recommend DP / TUNE / E30 and save money on those other things that you've mentioned. IF your DME is post - 06/2020 then I leave it up to you for the FEMTO route... It is pricy.

At that point I recommend JB4 until the DME can be cracked.

Look at the door sticker on the driver's side door jam for an approximate date or else you have to lift up/take out the ecu and it has a sticker that has the exact build date.

If your build date (on the door jam) is pre-June 2020, there is a very good chance that your DME is unlockable. If it is June or after then it is probably locked. My build date was somewhere in 2019 so I didn't even bother to look up the date on the DME.
