New software update with Alexa

Looks like it could drop anytime now in the UK:

I’ll probably need to plug mine into the battery charger to have any chance of getting it with the miles I’m doing at the moment!

Edit: reading other articles, looks like Lane Change Assistant may be enabled without having to code it.

Yes, here's hoping. the OTA update will be 20/11/545 and there is another update coming to myBMW App. Should be working late March 2021.

I’m hoping it fixes the HUD tach issue in Sport too!

Yup, Alexa isn't ready till late March in the UK though , servers aren't ready ( there's a tiny footnote at the bottom of the press release on the bmw press page, that bmw blog haven't included )

Interesting thanks, the one everyone is waiting for!

Although one small point, I’ve had a customised profile pic set in my car via My BMW app for a good couple of months now, so odd they are crediting that feature to this software update.

Yes, I thought that! I think once MyBMW launched, you could update the photo in that app as I changed mine to a picture of my car and it now shows as the drivers profile in the car.

The My BMW has been updated today and the Amazon Alexa option is now available but I assume that an updated iDrive version is also required.

I have 11/2020.36 but there is no ‘Third Party’ speech processing option available.

I have 11/2020.50 (I think!).

I did notice some stuff earlier in the car regarding third party processing, but I didn't pay attention.

With the app update today Alexa works perfectly in my car. My software is 11/2020.57

Looks like the iOS app has been updated, but the Android one is lagging. Hopefully there will be an update soon.

It's working in one of our cars on -545 so *shrug*. 557 only released to dealers a few weeks ago

So the my bmw app has updated and I’ve linked Amazon Alexa, but my current software in car is 11/2020.31 I assume it won’t work yet still ?

Not for me. I can, for example, say “Alexa, play music by Half Man Half Biscuit” (why wouldn’t you) and that plays through Amazon Music via CarPlay.

I don't think you can force an update but the Connected Drive will show available updates. Do you see anything in there?
