Heated Steering Wheel retrofit
Hello,
anyone knows if it is possible to retrofit the heated steering wheel? In a F21 it was possible to code it to the car and retrofit the button to acitvate it, when you have the M-Steering Wheel with Diving Assistant (vibration on steering wheel). Perhaps its the same on the G20. And when possible to activate heated steering wheel with "Hey BMW", so you dont need to retrofit the button on the steering wheel to activate it. |

Also, “Hey BMW” does not work to heat the steering wheel. I’ve tried. It says that module cannot be controlled or something like that. Just like how the rear seat heaters cannot be turned on via “Hey BMW”.

It would be nice if you could do that. Unfortunately in a stock car, theres no auto steering heat turning on below a set temperature. Only for the drivers seat.

i will be doing this retrofit in a month, so will be able to tell some more info.
coding is the easy part, i will have to check which hardware has to be changed, i think all the wiring should be there from factory, only the clock spring differs, and ofcourse the steering wheel itself

Same here, I have the steering wheel now and will be attempting it. The clockspring is the same for mine if I am not mistaken since I have drive assistant professional.

So having done a bit of comparison of the CAFD without and with heated steering wheel (248) and it looks like its the following modules and parameters that are affected:
BDC_BODY3 LIN_VARIANTE_LRE: lre_tlc (03) -> lre_tlc_lhz_taster (05) LRE_LHZ_VERBAUT: nicht_aktiv (00) -> aktiv (01) CODDT_BYTE_00_LRE_LIN: nicht_aktiv (00) -> LHZ_LRE_mit_TASTER (03) CTRL_HOD_CODG_STWH_LIN: nicht_verbaut (02) -> verbaut (01) HU_MGU SVS_CONTROL_LENKRADHEIZUNG: nicht_aktiv (00) -> aktiv (01) I wonder what the CTRL_HOD_COFG_STWH_LIN actually does. HOD is the Hands-On-Detection bit for the Driver Assistant Pro, unless it's a parameter for configuring the BDC for both HOD and STWH=Steering Wheel Heater? |

drdino Oh that is awesome! Would you be able to share how you did it? Would I need to just buy the button part on the steering wheel and then enable the SWH? (Also if you could give any info on how you did that it would be wonderful!)
Or does it require a brand new steering wheel? I have the M-Sports one currently with the drivers assistance package. Living in Sweden you really do need steering wheel heating in the winter Thanks a ton in advance! |

I'm afraid you need to buy a complete steering wheel. Once you have it, it's just a matter of swapping the parts and then coding.

Regarding the coding.. Is this tough to do? Like could I do it myself? Is there a guide anywhere for a coding newbie? |

I don't think it's tough, it's quite straightforward but there is an element of learning required.
There are two paths you can follow: 1. Code each parameter individually 2. Change the factory order (VO) of the vehicle I used the 2nd option because this way nothing is overwritten if the vehicle gets a software update and confirmed each parameter to be on the safe side. Protool on Android is an excellent tool that does both. |

Can anyone help me?
I've just fitted a genuine bmw heated steering wheel to my G22 M440d. I understand my car needs coding for it to operate. Could I pay someone on here to do this for me? Or help me with a step-by-step guide? |
