Some questions about the 330e

1. When you plug it in and it reaches 100% after 5 hours or whatever, does it harm the battery to leave it plugged in for a few more hours while you're asleep? in other words, can you overcharge it?
2. Does the battery start losing charge quicker over time like a phone battery?
3. Is it important to always charge it to 100%?
4. I get the impression from the BMW website that the basic non-adaptive suspension that comes on a 330e M-Sport is different from the suspension hat comes on a 330i M-Sport. The difference being that the 330e M-Sport comes with non-M-Sport suspension - maybe something to do with the extra weight of the battery. Does anyone know if that's true?

1. No it stops charging.
2. Yes just normal wear.
3. Depends on what you mean. If you want range yes. You can't really control a max charge.
4. Only thing I no there's no adaptive suspension available, only standard.

Thank you. What do you mean by 'You can't really control a max charge?' If you leave it plugged in long enough won't it charge to 100%?

Adaptive M-Sport suspension is available here as part of the M-Sport Plus pack for €2898.99.

Normally you can choose between three types of suspension: normal, m-sport and adaptive. Its my understanding that on the 330e m-sport is not available. Only normal and adaptive. Probably due to weight as you mentioned. Adaptive is a good option though, had it on all my previous BMW's and ordered it again for my upcoming 330e.

It's the other way around. You cant set it to let's say max 85%.

Yes but it's nearly €3,000 as part of a pack. I have just taken normal and deleted the runflats in the hope that that will give a softer ride.

It's not the normal suspension either... it's specific for the 330e, I think it's rather good to be honest, I didnt realise it didnt came with M-sport suspension until it was too late, but it handles really well...

I sometimes get the feeling it feels different when in sport vs hybrid... but I doubt BMW would fit it with adaptive suspension and just not giving you the button for it

Hardly! But you never know. What wheels and tyres do you have?

Hi, I've just had my 330e delivered yesterday. With 100% charge what electric range should I expect? I was reading around 30 ish but I'm currently charging, at 96% battery my BMW connected app is showing 21miles e range. Is that normal? Never had a hybrid or BMW so not sure how it all works

On paper 60 km is possible. In practice, I'd say 40-55 km depending on various conditions such as weather and driving style.

I read somewhere that the battery only ever charges to 80%. Is that true and if so, how come?

well, it shows you charge it 100%, but in the background the car uses about 80% of the total capacity, because it drastically improves the battery lifetime that way. (like really 3 times as long)

Some interesting info here => https://batteryuniversity.com/learn/...ased_batteries

So basically you can’t get full range because there’s a certain % of capacity that won’t be available for use?

Can that be overridden?

330e power storage

Supposing you charge up your 330e to 100% but you don't use the car for two weeks, will it still be at 100% or does it lose charge even if not being used?

In my experience, it will slowly lose charge but that very much depends on the temperature.

Driving style and temperature will control. If you hypermile you can probably do better than the listed range; but who buys a BMW to hypermile? If you drive with lights on, AC/Heat on, etc. and drive rapidly, your mileage will decrease dramatically. In the latter case expect considerably less.

My compromise is that I do most of my local driving in pure EV mode (I have a garage and can recharge during the day as I work mostly from home) but drive it like I hate it on the open road.
