My compromise is I do mostly pure EV driving in local driving and I drive in auto mode in a spirited manner when less urban roads permit. With a 12.4 gallon tank, I have been getting between 700 and 1,000 miles on a tank (currently at half a tank and almost 500 miles driven). I have never run out of boost. I do sometimes deliberately save battery capacity if my car is going to sit in the sun for an extended period so I can ensure that I have enough battery capacity to use my phone to start the AC. One of my favorite features. |

Thanks for sharing. Definitely interested in this car if it leases well. Would much rather the wagon but it's nice to see the ratings are realistic.

It's faster than what I expected. From standstill the first 2 seconds of acceleration actually feel surprisingly fast, and then it's ok. The performance is more than enough for fast city driving.

Major mistake by BMW by not releasing the car before 2020 in the US — the PHEV tax credit permanently expires at the end of the year and vehicle buyers will miss out completely. Sales will falter for sure because of it — hopefully it doesn't end up in the same grave as the underated monster that is the ActiveHybrid 3.

As can also be seen by the numbers, the 330e was a slug when I tested it. |

Yes, for all those who can not rely on a dense loading infrastructure, the Hybrid is a very good option, especially this new generation with increased E range. Better to safe a little CO2 than nothing.

However, I am hoping for a PHEV (plug-in hybrid) M-Car for my next sports car.

I don't think the ac is run from the "driving" battery but rather is powered by one of the two normal batteries (trunk/boot).

Ah, so the boot space is still restricted?

Arh... I somehow thought this would not be the case with the 2020 model. Might be a deal breaker right there. The X5 45e look like it's less crippled is this regard. I know differnet animal altogether...

Here is a picture of the boot space. The lower part is the "normal" height of a normal 3 series. The lower part can be increased to have a flat floor..

Got my 330e last week and could not get over 41km per charge whatsoever.
Round trip of 46km to work and back, 10km city and 36 motorway 100-120kmph, outside temps of 10-15 degrees C. That's with no A/C or any heating on, will be lower as it gets colder outside I'm sure. 51km sounds way too much when they advertise a 60km range. Or maybe that's the individual value which factors in the petrol drive of Hybrid mode. |
