Black Hills, SD vacation

One night in a Cedar Pass Lodge cabin, built in the 1920's, located in the heart of Badlands National Park.

The Badlands are eerily beautiful, particularly in the light of dawn/dusk.

My wife thought I was a dork for sneaking in photos of the car whenever the opportunity presented itself.

Crazy Horse - I doubt I'll see it complete in my lifetime. The goal is on the left; actual on the right (One mile in the distance! This thing is huge.)

The "cabin" we rented for a pretty decent price. Not as private as we had hoped, but very nice.

Sylvan Lake, Custer State Park.

Along Needles Highway, Custer State Park, some rock climbers creatively left their mark. Look closely at the top of the thin spire; close-up below.

Mt. Rushmore, a must see when in the beautiful Black Hills.

1880 Train in Hill City, SD. A little "living" history.

Along the train route, an abandoned tungsten mine that was very active during both world wars.

Custer State Park, and some of its wildlife bounty (bison and pronghorn).

Custer State Game Lodge - a great place for lunch or dinner.

The Gordon Stockade, as seen today and back in the 1800's.

Overall, a great trip! Hard to believe it is over.

One of the coolest areas I've visited. That Crazy Horse monument is absolutely gigantic. Nice pics.
