This is good news I hope because 2022-4 seemed to be some 20m off the exact location and makes some turns inaccurate. For example, laughingly asking me to do a U-turn whilst on a roundabout - such fun!

Just in case you didn't know, auto-update only updates the UK/NI maps. If you also want mainland Europe you need to download onto a computer then on to a USB drive.

I can only see 2022-4 in my connected drive to download. Can't see 2023-1 yet. Anyone else in same position?

No. Although no more than 10 mins ago I randomly checked the Download Manager and nothing new on there.

I have just been out in the car and noticed a 'Notification' on the iDrive and on checking it confirmed 'Map update ok' malarky and saw it was OTA 2023-2.
Quite surprised really that's twice now I've had OTA map updates on this car since buying it last September. Previous car of 15 months not a bloody thing! So always just did the full download bit.
I'm almost tempted to extend some praise but being 'Connected drive' stuff daren't for fear of 'poking the bear' and it stops doing it!

I’m new to the forum, I’ve had my 2020 M4 for about 4 weeks, I downloaded the new map update from the BMW download manager to a memory stick, but when I plugged it into my car nothing happens, what am I doing wrong?

Hi
When I did mine I put USB stick in port by the cupholders ( ie the main USB interface port )and it set off automatically as per this video:

I would suggest you reformat the USB stick ensure it is formatted as FAT32 and do the download again. See also the below:

https://www.bmw.co.uk/en/topics/owne...p-updates.html

If you wait long enough it will also automatically down load OTA without the need for the USB stick.

I presume you are still subscribing to BMW connected services.

It's more than likely due to the USB stick you're using. The car will read NTFS but the Download Manager formats the USB stick anyway if I remember correctly. I have a couple of USB 3 sticks I've tried and the car won't recognise either of them for some reason. I ended up buying a dual ended 64GB USB stick, normal one end and USB-C on the other end and using the USB-C connection in the armrest works a treat.

Something like this.

You need to download to your desktop and then "unzip" to a USB stick.
