ZCP as an option package I believe has ceased to exist across the entire model range.
M3 Competition and M4 Competition should be available shortly after launch of the standard model just as happened with the M5. Also... no longer a need to " Wait for LCI" because based on the recent spate of announcements of refreshes of multiple models (with a new color here.. and blacked out taillights there) on these pages.... it appears that there will be MULTIPLE , milder refreshes over time.. " Individual M sport " models also may pop up from time to time. |

What a shame that what used to be the standard preference for the M3 is now relegated to some cheese ball "pure" badge.
How the mighty have fallen...into a world of dull autoboxes and AWD.

Interesting because the motor rad has a r ninet 'pure' as well. Essentially it's just the bike and I believe it might not even have a tach, just speed. It's a cheaper bike to make it more accessible and strip the bike of all the modern bloat and comfort stuff.
I love it personally. Perhaps even id buy new for it depending on what the release date is. |

You can bet BMW will show us the pure weight and the AWD 0-60 in promotional material. Also, BMW says it shed 64 lbs, but keep in mind they are already taking about the CSL model in the release and didn't say if the CSL shed the weight from a base F80, if the Chassis shed the weight, or if the Pure being base is the weight. I say this because the G30 'lost weight' but after all standard options for 2019 are added in gained 100 lbs. they were really saying the chassis lost weight, the cars have gained weight overall. Sad too but that's what sells. Basically this is going to be an AWD e60 M5. The F30 already was as wide and a few inches shorter. What's worse is the 4 door 2 series is FWD. basically if you wanted a proper 4 door 3 series you're not getting it at a bmw dealer. Personally, I think BMWs big boi absolute units are great as they are very easy to drive track cars. For me it's the weight that is the Achilles heal. |

Tbh I bet weight considered they perform the same. Irrelevant any way because you knownit will just get flashed to proper HP anyway. Just be sure to haggle $300 out of the dealer when you buy to pay for it

One would assume they'll just be using the same 6MT that's in the current M2/M3/M4. As other have said, lots of tuned examples of the above that have been around for years now without any issues. Please correct me if I'm wrong though (would be good to know as I plan on tuning my M2C).
So no reason people can't do the same with this new M3 Pure model. That's assuming it'll be the same S58 engine with just different software mapping. Although obviously tuning isn't for everyone, so it is a shame from that point of view. I guess we should just be happy that there'll be a 6MT option at all, given all other competitors removed that option ages ago. But sounds like the auto with the M5 switchable AWD will be quite the beast! |

Weight compared to which other cars/manufacturer? Mercedes and Audi are the main competitors for them and BMW has the lightest model almost every time they compare the cars of these 3 manufacturers.

weight this weight that? hp increased torque increased four wheels as an optional , I don't see problem here , you want more light weight take out ur rear seat and go do gym more often then u will lose weight to increase ur 0.01-0.05 lap time , not everyone spend their life struggling on these

I’d suggest you get that 911 now, why wait a few more years? I for one am excited about the “pure” version. Even though it will exclude models like the CS and CSL, that’s a shame. I would urge BMW, given that this will likely be the last ICE and the last manual M3, to put in a little bit of effort and develop the manual transmission to handle all the torque. Send off a glorious history book with an incredible finale. A gift to us,and to themselves.

I want a back to basics M3. The Pure version sounds promising but I really want nothing but performance. NO nav, heated seats, back up cameras, active suspension, electronic rear diff, hill assist, crash detection, blind spot monitoring, etc. Seriously none of it. I am entertained by driving my fun car and listening to the radio (stock is okay with me). Cars have become so bloated with all this tech and I hate it. If this Pure is really a stripper only thing I ask for is power windows and mirrors haha. If BMW can pull this off I will sell my Z4 M Coupe. Anyone else interested in a true M3?

Only a 20 hp difference. Personally, that doesn't bother me.

The responses from a couple people in this thread are just silly fun really.
Every time the transmission debate erupts usually by the MT "purists" the bottom line is always that they don't care about higher performance numbers, but must have the MT as that's what matters to them and not getting 0-100kph half a sec faster. Now when they get what they want, interestingly they seem to gloss over this argument and continue complaining how it's a tragedy it won't be as powerful as the AT models, how it's a shame it's now its own "tier", how this sucks and how that sucks, etc... In essence it seems like what this people crave and live off of is non-stop complaining about one thing or another, and not the joy of driving a manual. Pure comedy. Now sure, you're free to want to have your cake and eat it too, but somehow I just feel like if BMW created the closest thing to a perfect "new-gen" MT car, a few here would still find something to grab onto to dislike and be all upset about.
