The third step that fixed it (after iDrive reboot and update apps and services) was to delete vehicle in app and add vehicle back to app.

Same thing here with the new 118i 2020 model. App worked for about a month and then no update on location. I removed the car from the app and re-added it, updated software but still no luck. Hope it just started working again!

It's a lawsuit waiting to happen.
BMW sells customer functionality. Functionality doesn't work. BMW continues to say that it's a known problem for months without a fix in sight. Customers file a class-action. While I love the driving experience, Audi has BMW beat hands down for seamless tech (and audio system).

Just curious, I have a 2019 X3 I got last March and my wife got a 2019 330 last May. My ConnectedDrive app has worked flawlessly from Day One ( knock on wood) while hers had problems one month in. Repeated trips to the dealer, working with BMW corporate, etc. they finally agreed to exchange her vehicle for a different one. This one also had problems with ConnecredDrive but not to the same extent as the original car. I realize the software is specific to the model but since the problems seem to be with overall connectivity why has mine worked perfectly and hers given her so many problems? I would think the underlying technology would be the same.

It's amazing how disconnected and in the dark they are. Therefore, I'm not shocked that BMW would rather replace the vehicle rather than clog their resources with your "problematic" vehicle. BMW should poach folks from Tesla or a software company to fix iDrive and Connected Drive functionality, as well as establish a better infrastructure for how software integrates into the BMW strategy. Even 1 year after the G20 launched with iDrive 7, it's still a total shit show. |

I had an issue for over a week as the Andriod BMW app was not able to connect to the vehicle.
Try this 1)Starting from the idrive main menu, scroll down to the Apps tab and click once with the large rotary idrive button. Then press the 'option' button on the center console. select 'Update services' and wait. 2)Restart the idrive with the radio on/off button by holding it down to power down. Then press again to turn back on. Note: May also need to uninstall and re-install the BMW connect app on your smart phone. I tried some shit recommended by someone here and it fixed it.. for like 2 weeks. It's broken again and doesn't tell me statuses of the vehicle.. I'm truly surprised no one has sued BMW for this crap. Absolute morons running their tech.
Like how hard is it to get some experienced developers for fucks sake. |

Rebooting the Idrive should solve all these issues.
Hold the power button down for 70 seconds exactly. The iDrive screen will turn off and reboot around 25 seconds, but you have to keep holding the button for 70 seconds. After a minute, release the button, wait for iDrive to boot up On the iDrive, click "Apps", highlight "installed apps" and then update services via the iDrive |
