My BMW App

Maybe I’m being thick but I’ve tried everything I can think of.

My cars status on the App hasn’t updated since the 1st. Location won’t change.

My car is on I drive 8.

My other car idrive 7 is updating and working fine so it’s something to do with the car I’m guessing not the app.

Any ideas ??

Thanks

Reset your cars idrive to factory, then start the pairing process again with MyBMW - should solve the problem.

I’m running iDrive 7 and my wife’s car iDrive 6 and both working fine with the MyBMW app so suspect it is your iDrive 8?

My BMW app (idrive 7) is not working. I suspect the car is not actually transfering the data.

I have hit allow all (in data privacy) and reset it 10+ times. I'm really annoyed.

MyBMW is hit and miss I think..... Despite the dealer coding the new tyres in on my car a week ago now the MyBMW still states the rears need looking at...

Rebooted iDrive, updated apps and services about 6 times, removed and reinstalled the app but still the same...

All 4 tyres new and BMW star marked

BMW’s connected drive integration is absolutely crap!
So many on here having issues at present with the systems which I’ve had issues with in the past and yet at this moment in time I’m on an island off the North East coast with patchy 4G coverage and everything is working fine.
There’s absolutely no rhyme or reason to this ‘connected world’ crap that BMW constantly bang on about being the be all and end all and how they are ‘self proclaimed experts’ in!

Like many others on here, I have been trying to view MyTrips in the App with no success so I emailed BMW Connected Drive and they replied with:-

Many thanks for your continued patience concerning this matter.

After further investigation, I'm afraid the "My Trips" isn't available for your BMW. This is only available for vehicles produced after July 2020, whereas your car was produced in June 2019.

I'm sorry for any disappointment this may cause, but I hope this clarifies the situation.

If there's anything else I can help you with please get back in touch.

Any details? I'd love mine to be fixed.

The Genius I finally got a hold of could not help. I called a number I was given, and now its' an IT ticket for help.

Told me it might be 10 days before I hear anything.

Fixed it!!!!!

Went to my garage on the web, disconnected all services, then set up my car as new, went through all the steps. set a code which I used to finish it up on the web. Then added the car to the app.

Its showing all the correct info.

So fingers crossed, but I'm all set now.

No kidding!!! I'm very disappointed. This in retrospect was pretty simple and should be the standard way to fix it.

Day two, no issues, fix is holding.

Good to know that the fix appears to be holding. Fingers crossed it stays that way!

BMW are useless, there solution to everything is take it to the dealer and get a software update done to fix it ..

Just had 4 new tyres fitted to mine, BMW have coded the tyres into the car but the app still says they need attention even after almost 2 weeks, reboots, update to apps and services etc

This is what Connected drive say... as usual..

Good afternoon Stuart

Thanks for getting back in touch - I'm sorry to learn you're experiencing issues with the My BMW app.

I'd advise to please get back in touch with the BMW Centre so they can check the tyres again. If the issue isn’t with the tyres, the Service Team would need to enable some settings on the vehicle side to reflect that the tyres have been changed which will remove/update the message from the app – Sadly this can’t be carried out on our systems and has to be actioned at the retailer.

Please get in touch with your local retailer to arrange an appointment - Please click here to find your nearest BMW Centre.

I hope this is helpful and if there's anything else I can help you with, please get back in touch.
Kind regards

Rajbir

AND...

Good afternoon Stuart

Thanks for getting in touch with BMW ConnectedDrive.

In order for this to be updated within the app, your BMW will need to be updated.

This can be done by visiting your local service center, please click here to find your local Service Center.

I hope this is helpful and if there's anything else I can help you with, please let me know.

Kind regards

Abdul

BMW Group

Have to say this is my first BMW and whist the car is OK the dealer and BMW customer service is rubbish compared to the VAG Group I have had for 20 years.... may be going back

Does anyone know how to change the tyre pressure display in the app from Bar to PSI? I have changed in the car itself to PSI but the app is still showing Bar. In Australia PSI is more common usage.

Can’t be done apparently. I wanted mine to show psi like you because bar doesn’t work for me and psi is more accurate as it’s more finite.
Someone on here mentioned a while back that BMW are supposed to be going to make it available to change in the app but I’m not holding my breath!

BMW keep pushing the envelope and roll all these fancy features out, then struggle to keep them up to date.
They don't seem to appreciate how fed up we get doing all this 'beta testing' for them!

Quoting myself, got this email after I fixed it last night, useless..

My reply

----------------------------------------------------

None of that worked, however I figured out a way to fix it and it worked.

I would have hoped you would have provided me the instructions I used to fix the issue vs "reboot"

Chris

----------------------------------------------------

Dear Customer,

Thank you for contacting BMW Assist Customer Care.

VIN: XXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Please be advised we see a provisioning issue on the back end, please make sure vehicle is out in the open and Bluetooth is off on your phone before performing the steps below.

We recommend performing an Update Services in your vehicle to refresh the connection. This can be done by following the steps below:

-Hold the power button down for 70 seconds exactly. (The volume knob is the iDrive power button)
-The iDrive screen in the center of the vehicle will turn off and reboot around 25 seconds into the 70 seconds, but keep holding the power button for the entire 70 seconds
-After 70 seconds, release the power button and wait for iDrive to boot up
-On the iDrive, click "Apps" and then press the “Option” button near the iDrive controller in the center console
-Choose “Update apps and services”. The vehicle will then undergo a short update.
-Finally, remove the MYBMW app from your phone and then reinstall the app.

Once the update completes, we recommend shutting the vehicle off and locking doors allowing 30 minutes before restarting the vehicle to check the connection.

iDrive screen in the vehicle and select Car, Driver Profile and make sure you are logged in. Please navigate back to the main menu and select Car, Settings, General settings, scroll down to Data Privacy and select and make sure box is checked for Agree and activate all.

If the option to Update APPS and Services is greyed out, please visit your preferred BMW Service Center for them to create a TSARA Case.

If update is successful and issue persist, please provide screen shot of error message directly to this e-mail. Our days of operation are Monday-Friday; 8:30 AM-5:30 PM EST.

Sincerely,

ConnectedDrive Services Customer Care

At least BMW NA appear to give far more detailed instructions than our lot here on the other side of the pond!
Alright if it actually worked!

I’ve never heard of a 70 second idrive reboot before. I wonder how that varies from the normal 25 second reboot?
