new wing required.

Unfortunately had a bit off an accident when driving my car, and my wing needs to be replaced alongside my screen wash tank and the wheel arch plastic.

Couple Qs I had :
- I assume going to bmw direct will have the most cost?
- will it void warranty? It’s all cosmetic damage it seems
- any specialist garage around east London you guys would recommend?

Pic added for context, it genuinely is just the wing / screen wash tank and plastic arch so thankfully it’s not too much. Rough quote of what I can expect would also be amazing, I’ve found the part ( wing ) brand new primed on eBay for £350

Thanks!

Sorry, should have made it more obvious that my comment was a joke. “That’ll t-cut out” is a well used phrase on forums etc. for major cases of car bending.

- I assume going to bmw direct will have the most cost? Yes
- will it void warranty? I don't see why it should if the damage is as you describe it.
- any specialist garage around east London you guys would recommend? Not my patch, but maybe use google/yell.com to find local bodyshops and check reviews.

As to cost, it's a while (thankfully, and touch wood) since I had anything like that done, but I wouldn't expect much change from a grand including parts.

I was quoted £1600 from a bmw specialist garage near me - are they pushing it?
He said the labour would be £600 / respray £200 and parts the rest which he broke down. The labour being the main charge as he would try and blend it as much as possible in order for it to not be visibily different.

Well I nearly said £1000 - £1500 so that might not be unreasonable. As I said, it's a while since I had anything similar done and everything's more expensive lately.

I think all you can do is get a couple more quotes, check whatever reviews you can find and hope for the best, although tbh at that price I'd be claiming on my insurance and insisting on BMW, even if it meant paying a bit more excess.

On the question of 'will it void warranty?' it would only void the warranty for the areas involved. For example they may refuse to cover something they see is related to a repair but if something completely different failed, like the gearbox, they wouldn't have any grounds for refusing the repair unless they can link it.

Not sure how east you are, but I can recommend EV Bodyshops in Enfield - https://evbodyshops.co.uk/

Got a few quotes from some garages around - is it better to get a panel which has the matching paint already from factory, or to get a new panel and get it colour matched and blended?

Seems like the matching paint panel will be a way cheaper option - but will it stick out more as not blended? The car is metallic grey so please let me know thoughts !

I would definitely get it matched and blended. Colours change over time, especially when exposed to sunlight, so while you may be lucky with a prepainted panel, it's unlikely to be a perfect match.
