You dont need a crystal ball to see that this trend is going to continue to accelerate. And yes enthusiasts on this forum do not speak for the majority of the market. You may scoff at picking up a new 4 series but there will be 10 other people lining up to buy one on day one. General public couldn't give a rats ass about the grill like many on here. All they want is that badge. BMW won't be missing your dollars. You're an insignificant portion of the market as an enthusiast. As for the car, its a bold new design change and I welcome it. I'm sick and tired of stale design of today's BMWs. |

The paint is super gorgeous; and I really like the rims. I also like the roofline and overall proportions.
What I don't like is almost everything else. As someone else said, the side view is so boring and uninspiring... But the front and rear have the opposite problem. The disgusting front gets all the attention, but the rear end is butt ugly too. Both the nose and tail are just downright unattractive. I can't wait to see this thing just get uglier when reality sets in and cameras and sensors get added. My financial advisor thanks you for making this thing so damn fugly.

Agreed vote with your wallet. Porsche or Tesla works or at this size and heft a X3M, X5 or Macan/Cayenne. A car has to be fun to drive and the right size, can't get too big otherwise just get an SUV for ride height, bike rack hitch mount and ground clearance.

I'm wondering if this is BMW entering into their own meta retro phase that made Dodge relevant to so many more buyers again.
In BMW's case they only have fans to lose but they are expected to set the tone with sport luxury styling. It's a tough position to be in and they can't stagnate by retooling the F80 face for the next gen. |

The new M3 will also have this grille, so it’s the end of the line for me and the M3’s.
Too bad because I actually like the rest of the car. Some will say the profile is too Infinity, but you know what, they make a great looking car. The paint was ripped from a Mazda, but I can’t help but turn my head every time I see one painted in that interesting red. But the front. I cannot get past it, and the forced, fake, inspiration from the past. I think it’s time to go to a better looking/better driving car. Either an M2CS, or a Porsche.

At first glance, I questioned everything. Read some comments, watched the promo video and came back to staring at images. Truth be told, that design is already starting to grow on me. It’s so different. Looks like nothing else and for that, I like it. Other drivers on road with their boring and mundane looking cars will look on in disgust and some with admiration. And I think I like that.

hmmm, not sure about the front, maybe it will grow on me or be more appealing with the production model but the rest of it has some great lines. Looks like a little 8 series in some ways. but those grills are def not something I am use to, wow.

I actually don't... mind it. I think it doesn't have the best view though with the camera putting it front in center at a very low perspective, but of course, haven't seen it in person.
Here's my fear though, this is still a concept, and we know how most concepts from BMW are changed to meet production and safety standards. I fear the design will be altered in a bad way for production models.

I actually really like the grills... refreshing to see something bold, new rather than an evolution of the f3x. I think the overall shape is nice but I don't like the A5 c-pillar kink that replaces the Hoff kink. I don't think the normal Hoffmeister kink would work either but this looks almost identical to the A5 in that area.
Overall, I'm really excited to see the G80 now as that is where my next car purchase interests lie.

Can someone make a render of the M3/ M4 in this color based on current knowledge of the body? I think it will look so bad ass.

As of right now I do not like the grille, however I will reserve final judgement for when I see the production version in person.
These things tend to become more liked by people as time goes on, but until that happens I guess every G8X thread will be dominated with talk about how people don't like the grille.
