Greer Factory Delivery Issue
Heads up! Once you are set up for factory delivery, your car will get shipped from Bremerhaven to Charleston. Currently the factory delivery is backed up for over a month, I was told that my factory delivery would be at the end of Feb. So, I changed back to dealer delivery. My dealer is Passport BMW in MD, less than an hour from Baltimore. But, my car will stay on the ship in Baltimore on the 18th and go to Charleston on the 24th, get prepped in Charleston and trucked to Passport in MD resulting in at least a two week delay. I decided to switch back to dealer delivery long before the car got loaded on the ship on the 5th. There is a flaw in the BMW delivery system.

I think it's more of a case that the delivery system isn't really set up for changes after the initial order. I took delivery of my 230i at Greer, and it was a great experience - and well worth the delay in delivery. Since your 440i will likely be delivered with summer performance tires (?) - waiting for slightly warmer weather to drive back to MD would be good as well.

Wow, PCD is that backed up eh? With a car that hasn't even received the RAM fix yet, I'm likely looking at March PCD delivery at this point. Yeah—it's looking more and more like I'm backing out of this deal. Guess we'll see what happens in the next couple of weeks….
Glad you got it sorted out, OP. |

Yes, the BMW delivery system has some glitches.....my M340i was set for Performance Center delivery in April 2020 when covid hit and I switched it to my dealership in Maryland....same thing happened as I watched my ship pass through Baltimore to South Carolina to Georgia to Florida and back to Charleston where my car was finally unloaded, prepped and trucked to Maryland.
In the end it was well worth the wait, took delivery in May and had it a little over a year when I traded for the M440i convertible......took 12 weeks from order to PCD in South Carolina.....very lucky I got everything I ordered....

Well… Maybe not! Dealer just sent me an email saying my car is in Baltimore waiting on a recall. So, did they take it off the ship on the 18th or truck it up to Baltimore from Charleston? Who knows???? Clearly nobody KNOWS what’s going on!
