!!Sunroof Failure!! Initialize works but switch doesn't?

Hi all,

Just learned about the sunroof failure issue common on the G20. I parked the car in a lot with the sunroof tilted open and the shade mostly closed. Came back to the sunroof and shade having entirely closed themselves. After starting the car, the sunroof switch did nothing. When I got home I was able to "initialize" the sunroof as described in every thread about this issue just fine. The whole initialization process is able to complete perfectly: full open/close of the tilt function, full open/close of the sliding function, and full open/close of the shade. I can do this as many times as I want, but the switch still doesn't operate afterwards. I can't find anyone with a similar issue in the other threads on this topic, mostly people with bad motors/FZD modules which would prevent them from initializing at all or cause errors during the process. I don't hear any relay clicks, just dead silence. No errors on the dash either. So what could be causing the switch to simply not want to work in the normal fashion, but have no problem running the initialization procedure?

Thanks!

Sounds a little bit different from my scenario. (Mine jammed and would close—thank goodness—but then only the tilt open and closed would work upon using the initialization procedure. And irritatingly the cloth sunscreen was stuck partially open, which was distracting to my peripheral vision).

But basically you have to take it to the dealer. It took me two trips and they had to fully reprogram the roof.
