I notice that the configurator images showing the digital instrument cluster omitted the gear shift lever. That bothered me very much and I thought it was due to some sort of rendering error.
I was correct. I see in these official photos that the shift lever is now back where it belongs. |

My first BMW was an E46 sedan loved that car. Then I changed brands and missed BMW so I got a E90 I still have, I really disliked the F30 looks so I kept my E90. I think this new G20 looks much better compared to the previous model. I think the rear taillights look more like a 5 series than a Lexus. |

Liking this, I will reserve judgment on the big grilles though!
I'll be able to see in person this weekend at the Paris show as taking advantage of a trip to see the show. |

Hate the lack of a manual handbrake even though I understand the reasoning.
Also, is the red/blue top 4 vent control wheel finally gone? That thing has been around for decades!

What's up with the half-assed 'corona rings'? on the car without laser lights? It looks like it is wearing eye-liner...

The white Sport Line appears to be wearing not the Sport Line specific wheels but the new Individual wheel design option already seen on other models.

To me this looks very similar to a Camry or Lexus product.
Such a shame bmw has become this. But this was predicted years ago, on the basis of what looks from the outside as a corporate culture that wants to push talented people away. Toyota designs are predicated on offending no ones tastes. Which is why they are at the same time forgettable in every way. Seems the same here. Think about what BMW was doing 20 years ago and then this. Next prediction. We will see more people adding big wings, colored wheels and other similarly Toyota like things here.

It looks good enough. Keeping up with the modern luxury sports sedan archetypes which admittedly all kinda look alike these days. Except for Audi which seems to keep its understated classiness very well. G20 just has to drive like the e90 and it'll be golden. Prodigal sons and daughters will return.

For those that do not know your history. The first BMW to introduce the L shaped rearlight was the E32 7er in 1986.
The first BMW to showcase the prominent L shaped light bar highlight was the 2009 Vision EfficientDynamics Concept.

I don't think so. I mean all cars have 4 wheels, front headlights, and rear lights. So you can line up every car of similar size and say it looks like such and such. Lexus is a very edgy design. The BMW still looks like a BMW, and the Acura blends in with all the other Japanese cars out in the wild.
