Windscreen washers

Today is the first day I've had to use the above so had no idea they were attached to the wipers.

Where should the jets be pointing as mine seem to be pointing about an inch in front of where the wipers are.

Should they be set up to still point where fixed washer jets traditionally point, or is there some reason they are pointing just in front of the wiper blades.

Just wondering if it's something the dealer has missed at handover?

They seem to work fine where they are, just seems a bit weird as I've never experienced it before.

Yeah, that's how they work. Nothing to worry about. You'll get use to it.

They’re pointing just in front of the wiper blades because they move with the wiper blades?

Not sure why more manufacturers don't do this, think my old Peugeot 405 Mi16 had the jets on the wiper arms.

Yeah the 405 had it and it's great when it works well but when it freezes (even with winter concentration of fluid the exposed pipes get very cold) the pipes crack. Also, you can't time the squirt to go behind the downward arc of the wiper. Traditional heated jets are better IMO.

I mean AG screenwash goes down to -45C if you're pouring in neat so if that happens over here we'll be in a much worse predicament than some washers freezing over 😂

Who uses neat? It's the windchill factor too.

Hopefully nobody, unless Scotland breaks off the Isles and floats up nearer to the Arctic

Talking nearly embarassing

Yeah - I almost took my BMW back to the dealer as I thought the wipers were defective - until I finally realised the water was coming out of the actual wipes! Could have been a bit embarrassing - especially as a blonde!

I use VW's / Skodas screen wash - neat it's -70 protection so in winter is use 3:1 and never had it freeze on me. Not too expensive either
