The oversized grills resemble flesh eating bacteria that won't stop consuming the patient's body.
Coupled with boring turbo motors, rectangular headlights and awkward digital cluster gauges, I'm starting to believe that the former ///M boss, a former Audi employee, was a well positioned Trojan Horse that effectively destroyed our beloved M cars, shame!

I'll add you to the list. I love these zero chance statements made by members. Those will be the members that I poke at the most.

I'm a bit surprised by the forums reaction on this. I consider myself to be extremely negative towards the 3 but somehow this one just looks right to me.
It'll definitely look a bit different towards the final version and I know it will look perfect as an M4 as that's what I'm going for anyways once my F82 is up.

I guess to each his own but 4 < 3 any day of the week and twice on Sundays. That rear end will look magnificent on the M4 Comp and you know we will all buy it
( except the F30 330i/340i owner's who claim Porsche next )

I'm trying to get past the front and can't. The rear is OK , the side profile is where I don't have the words...yet. BMW has lost it's WOW factor. Uniqueness is gradually fading and and seems to be a blend of everyone else....Lexus, Mercedes, Audi, etc.

Yes, you get it. Because i4/4 Gran Coupe are one of the same.
The i4 and 4 are derived from Vision iDynamics so you are looking at the ideas from the Vision iDynamics but interpreting therefore solving the issues to be productionised. So Vision iDynamics is very flat at the front which is not possible in regards to certain legislation so you have to raise the front to accommodate this, of course this is how the nose cone of the car becomes independent. As it addresses the impact, aerodynamics and engineering issues if not the aesthetic ones.

There is a reason why the rendors are the way they are. It is obvious to me their is evidence showing grills are very tall, almost full height.

The spy photo of the F80 very clearly shows the outline of the large/tall kidneys and the new horizontal slats(bars) in the grills.

More importantly the photo clearly shows the same horizontal slats right above the sensors, those slats then run directly behind the license plate. Sorry to the naysayers, grills are not separated by a license bracket or a piece of flat bumper.

Hope you're wrong. I don't think people will be lined up to buy this butterface. I also don't see why they would design the 3 and 4 series so differently. But If it is I have been thinking about moving on from my current gen 4 series to a different automaker anyway.

God the front is just awful. The side is a bit too swoopy for a German car (a bit Genesis?) and I actually like the rear end lights. But that front just kills any chance I can get one. I really hope these renders are wrong although it's looking less likely. The ones where the bumper is solid and slices through the grille was much nicer.

Keep chiming in SCOTT26. I have a question for you. I know that you mentioned having a, "WTF?", moment the first time you saw the car in person. What thoughts went through your head about the design and how long did it personally take you to warm up to, and accept, this controversial design language?
