Very interesting perspective, I didn't think the gap between the C300 and C43 was so big, but it really looks like the C43 is trying to earn that fake AMG badge by taking after the C63 but with a smaller/less powerful engine.
Also, can't wait to see more videos hopefully of Thomas' new E46 M3. |

So the M340i's biggest flaw is the superiority of the 330i over it's classmates? I figured the outcome would be based on driving dynamics, instead it's based on the delta between the base and mid level car.
Disappointing one from these guys... |

They got it all wrong. The engine upgrade and the upper models are only as good as the base models. The body stiffness, the suspension design, weight distribution all stay from base models.
I bought 340 based on how good the 330 test drive was. If c 300 sucks in base form - guess what - lipstick on a pig is not going to make it a good car. It makes noises but like they said on the track and at the limit - it will all mean nothing. Meanwhile M340 behaves beautifully at the limit. |

Did I see M badges on the front fenders of the M340i? How come mine didn't come with them?

I like all these cars but would get tired of soft/slow S4 and annoyed by abrupt/sharp C43. The M340i hits the middle with all the performance and none of the penalty.

Agreed - for me it provides the best balance of qualities. Cars can't be all things to all people.

The S4 isn't slow by any means. It's also not 'soft'. From someone that owns one, the Audi is probably the best daily driver.

Really? It should be on all M Performance cars.

Good it should remain that way in the US at least. For the rest of the world the cost of M cars is absolutely absurd. If placing an M badge on an M-tuned non-M model makes owners feel a little more special then I suppose it's an excellent marketing tactic. As for the snobs here that take issue with that in other markets, before passing judgment think whether or not you'd pay $200K USD for an M3 and then it all makes sense.

Light steering can still be communicative, they even said that it had a fair amount of feel to it (which is probably more than most modern EPS systems), just because steering is heavy =/= communicative, a good example is the F30 |

is it not weird how they barely talk about the handling on the m340i? they said the m340i is very comfortable and would probably be the best on the track compared to the other two. ummm isn't that the ideal car?
i also don't believe they thought a 330i is too close to an m340i. i had an f30 328i and f30 340i and i won't say they are night and day difference, but it was enough to keep me in the same gen compared to going to a g20 330i. |
